Hello members of the Cyprus Forum website!
I am seeking your advice on the possibly of gaining Cypriot citizenship given my situation. I am 18 years old, and my grandfather and grandmother, now deceased were Cypriot citizens. Although they were not born there (I don't know if this will play a factor), my father never acquired citizenship through them and we are now investigating if this is even possible. He was born before 1960, which as stipulated could potentially make him eligible to apply for the M72 which dictates an applicant must be of "Cypriot Origin" and born prior to independence. Given this, I was wondering if his parents not being born in Cyprus would be detrimental to his application. Furthermore, I, being under 21 believe that I would be eligible conditional on his successful application to apply for citizenship by way of M126 which stipulates that an applicant must be under 21 and his father must have acquired citizenship after his birth. Given these criteria, I was wondering if anyone could potentially advise on the feasibility of this endeavour.
Thank you,
James
