Well not quite, there is still a bit of mopping up to do! But clearly the overt war has virtually been won and the US's proxies have been defeated ..... now of course the covert war will begin, no doubt funded and supported by the same criminal nations that did the same thing in the war that Assad/Putin/Hezbollah/Iran and the Syrian people have just won at such a terrible cost.

...in any case i hope that Assad does the right thing, consolidate and reform, establish a Syrian State where Syrians can unite, then retire.

...Erdogan too, will do the same, but not through his own capacity, if it is to happen that Turkey is reformed in a manner where Turks are united, it will have to happen in Cyprus, first. It may be that he will have no choice but to allow what for decades Turkey has remained the "but one" against; a Cypriot identity.

Assad has always said that he will go at any time the people say that is their wish. What he has resisted and successfully, is the Syrian people being told by the US and their allies what THEY want to happen in Syria. I think it would be true to say that the western alliance that has destroyed their country and still is and has been primarily responsible for the death of so many Syrians, will not be the Syrian peoples informative or reliable source for their choice of a new leader when they make that decision.
