Just like Kim Potter who went for her gun when she or anybody else was in no danger what so ever and killed a man. Then she claimed she did not realise it was the gun she pulled. Yeah right pull the other one mate the middle one has bells on it.
This policeman could have tasered the attacker and disarm her. She chose to use lethal force. She will have to explain it in court. Why was there a need for lethal force when the lesser taser would have done the job and nobody would have been killed. Of course there is a chance that the taser would have killed the girl but he at least he would have taken appropriate action.
This reminds me of the GC police who broke a black mans leg when he was unarmed. I wonder was there any action taken against that policeman?
Sorry but in a life or death situation, as this clearly was, police do have the authority to use lethal force.
they are trained to aim for the chest as well. Which will likely kill the assailant. Aiming for legs or limbs mean increase chance of missing entirely, and resulting in the death of a member of the public or a police officer.
Tazers are only an apprehension tool. They are not used when guns or knives are used or someone is about to be shot or stabbed.
In addition, most tazers are single shot. Miss and someone else gets killed - police officer or member of the public. Some are 2 shot, but you can miss twice. Depends how far away they are. Which also adds they may not even be within range or willing to get close enough to an armed assailant to use a tazer. certainly makes sense to me. If someone is holding a knife, it's probably a great idea being far enough where they can't get at you.
This situation placed the cop in a life or death situation of a member of the public. So the officer assessed the risk and determined lethal force was necessary. So they shot the assailant and another 1 or 2 members of the public are likely saved.
Should be congratulated for a job well done.
