Indeed max.

In Australia, there was a BLM protest with 40,000 protesters in Melbourne.

Now Melbourne has a second wave of Chy-na Virus and is about to be isolated from the rest of the country.

The stupid Democrat Premier they have over there, tried to blame families for not practicing social distancing. So he restricted family gatherings to just 5. What a total arsehole he is.

And of course it had nothing to do with the BLM protests at all. Brush brush under the carpet! same old same old stupidity.

Our company is also about to cancel its routes to Melbourne for a bit because other states will close their borders to Victoria.

I didn’t realize Melbourne has 40,000 black people to attend BLM. At least I didn‘t see that many when I was there!

OK, you know I am being flippant because majority would be non blacks of the 40,000 as BLM is not just about black lives, but police brutality where proportionately black people suffer the most, especially in the USA. All demonstrations around the world have one thing in common, which is police brutality, which for me, it doesn’t matter under what title the focus is put on the police and their illegal actions against the citizens which they have swore to serve and protect as they have not been held accountable for decades.

Who can justify police murder on citizen regardless of the colour of the victim, but some on here although not justifying murder committed by police, they have a problem highlighting police murder on citizens and police brutality if it is under the title of BLM. Why? It has taken years to try to get the police be accountable for their crimes and just because the BLM movement has gained traction to prosecute murdering law breaking police officers, it is a win win for everyone and not just for the black people but a win win for all people. Police brutality should be a colorblind movement but for some inexplicable reason, some white people do not want to support BLM movement because it has the word “black” in it. That comes from decades of prejudices and racism against the black as an established and institutionalized discrimination against blacks, consciously or unconsciously, and yes, the history of slavery does matter regardless if it ended officially ended over 150 years ago, but for the most part, it did not end in some people’s conscience as their own history about the black people is embedded deep in their consciousness.

I am very proud of the young white people who want to change the past negative black consciousness to make a better society for all. The future does belong to the young people to make changes for the future and not carry on passing the “racist baton” from one generation to the next as it has been going on for centuries in the USA. Yes, this does frighten those who are OK with institutional racism and do not want to change, which the police departments across the USA are prime example. The police still act like they are catching black slaves who have escaped their slave masters or that they have disobeyed their slave masters and are treated as harshly as possible to teach the rest a lesson by setting an example as if black lives does not matter because they were just a property and. An be disposed of anyway the slave owners saw fit with the help of the police. Many white people need a major attitude adjustment, especially by those who deny there are racial problems in the USA and do not support the BLM movement.

No, murder by being shot in the back, which was against his depertmental policy to shoot anyone who is running away from the cops.

i'm not sure. I would have thought they pat you down after you are cuffed because if you are not cuffed, you can potentially assault them.

I'm not defending the shooting, but the guy did steal a tazer and at one point as he was trying to get away, pointed it to them.

And even if Brooks was on parole, he still made a very bad decision. A DUI offense would have carried very little weight or bearing on his parole because at the end of the day, he could have explained himself to the judge that he is trying to get his life back in order and probably only ended up with a small fine.

I mean gee, it was just a DUI for crying out loud.

Police can do what is called a “Terry Stop” where they can legally pat someone down while detained for “officer safety”, usually the suspect would agree to it so to ease officers concerns so not to get shot by them claiming the suspect reached into his pockets. This pat down does not allow the officer to go into suspects pockets unless they are arrested. Brooks had been patted down and did not enter his car again, therefore no chance to get a gun after the pat down.

For Brooks it was not just a DUI. It would have meant going back to jail for long time having had any interaction with the police as a parole. He was only over 0.2 the limit. Brooks offered to leave his car there and walk home. Any decent cop would have helped this guy out, considering he was not stopped while driving on public street. He was sleeping in his car on private property. It will be pointed out during the trial of the cops that they really didn't have probable cause at all to even give him a sobriety check. Brooks should have just took the 5th and not say a word. Since he did not do that as opened his mouth mistakenly believing that these cops were nice cunts, he should have never never resisted arrest as he can never get away. He made matters worse, but that did not give the cop to murder him.

So, Bolton is spilling Trump’s illegal requests from China to intervene into the 2020 US elections. Trump and his clowns in the White House say that it is all lies what Bolton wrote in his book, but they wanted Bolton to be prosecuted for violating the secrecy act. If Trump is denying any of what Bolton wrote is true, then just what secrecy violation can Bolton be prosecuted under. :D

Trump and the gang have shot themself on the foot here.

I heard the figure of ten from William Barr in an interview since these protests kicked off..

But I can accept the numbers in your links.

it is also important to note that death by police is on a consistent downtrend. Under Trump as well , which Kind of ruins the argument about police brutality doesnt it....?

There is a serious problem in the USA to do with crime and criminality. The US accounts for approx 5% of the global population. It accounts for around 25% of the global prison population. That is one in four prisoners globally are in US prisons. The numbers are shocking. The land of the free has more prisoners per head of population than any where else in the world. The US's prison population per head of population is over double Turkeys ! Something is wrong. Something is not working. They can not carry on like this. Just locking up ever greater proportions of their citizenry is not sustainable. The stats are astounding.

prison.JPG

As of June 2019 the figure is up to 2.2 million. Add that to the graph above and if that does not scare you I do not know what will.
cost.JPG

The figures for 2019 are 80 billion usd.
drugs.JPG

Lifetime Likelihood of Imprisonment of U.S. Residents Born in 2001. White male. 1 in 17 chance. Black male 1 in 3. Latino male 1 in 6. White women 1 in 111. Black women 1 in 18. Latina women 1 in 45.

The numbers are just not adding up Max. Over 10 fold increase on money spent on 'corrections' from 1985 to date. 10 times increase in number of people in jail. Do you think people in US are 10 times safer than they were in 1985 ? There is something SERIOUSLY wrong and it is not getting any better it is getting worse. So what solutions do you suggest max ? Anything ? Anything other than another 10 fold increase in spending and locking citizens up in jail for ever longer periods, for we know already that this just has not worked ?

If you serioulsy want to try and understand how the US has found itself in this position today, to be the world leader in incarcerating it's own citizens you can not do that without looking at race in the US and the history of race from slavery through to today. To understand how the US has ended up where it is today you have to look at these things. If you care about these issues you have to put in effort and watch something like https://www.netflix.com/cy/title/80091741 . You do not have to agree with what is said in documentaries like these but you DO have to listen. Unless you are Paphitis. (If you do not have netflix subscription and do want to listen then let me know and ill get a copy of this documentary up somewhere for you).

It seems that some Americans just need any excuse to commit crimes.

For example, a black man gets killed by a police officer and this is a good enough reason to kill more people, loot and vandalize the place.

And some (democrat) politicians turn a blind eye to it because they think by sucking up, they are going to win some votes.

You can go back in history if you want to argue your case but what are the demands and expectations from doing that to fix the problem?

defund / abolish the police?

If the crime rate is going up, you need more law enforcement not less.

What are your solutions because I am not hearing any ? I start from the reality that the situation is fucked up and something needs to be done. Looking at ways of over time reducing and not increasing the extra ordinary, world leading number of US citizens that end up locked up in the US seems like a good place to start to me. I see no solutions in denial. No solutions in just doing more of the same that we know is not working. No solutions in just blaming the 'left' because you personal lean right (or visa versa for that matter).

I edited my post above,

More / better law enforcement,
less immigration so there are more opportunities available,
incentive parents staying together.
Stop blaming others

and here is the cherry on the top.

be a good person, love thy neighbor, respect other people and their property.

To name just a few.

This is very much down to individual attitudes and responsibility.

Yet all the evidence from 1985 to date is that this is just not working. 10 times more spent on police and prisons leading to 10 time increase in incarcerated citizens for next to no discernible improvement. Is use of the phrase 'in denial' not fair when you just keep calling for more of the same that has not worked for the last 45 years ? 1985 to to date was the experiment. It has failed to deliver the outcomes that were promised. How can you believe it will do so going forward ? It makes no sense to me.

I dont agree with the way you are interpreting the data,

More people may be incarcerated but the overall crime and homicide rate has been coming down.

Dont you want less crime or just less people being caught and punished for crime?

Would better enforcement include better equity of enforcement ? In the US you can get found in possession of 1 gram of cocaine in rock form, the preferred form of this narcotic in impoverished, ghettoised, non white communities where hope is a scarce as opportunity is, and end up in jail for 5 years, 10 years, 15 years. Or you can get found in possession of 30 grams of cocaine in powder form , the preferred form of this narcotic for white rich professionals and get a fine or a suspended sentence or a few hours of community service. Check out the stats on this if you dare.

When you lock up 1 in 3 black men that is kind of hard is it not ?

That is your solution is it ? Tell people to be good ? Was slavery 'loving your neighbour'? Were the 'Jim Crow' laws on segregation 'loving your neighbour' ? Was launching a 'war on drugs' that with intent disproportionately targeted black and Hispanic communities more than white 'loving thy neighbour' ? Disproportionately targeted such communities not because they were taking drugs more, though god knows they had more incentive to try and find narcotic escape but by ignoring drug use when it was white drug takers and not when it was black or hispanic.
