The police like all social functions have been on a defunding curve since the 2008 global financial and this is part of the wider problem I think. I do not think the "defund the police" movement is about seeking an end point where there are no police at all. I think it is seeking to look at how what funds there are are used to get the best and most efficient outcomes possible. Something needs to change. Like the point RW raised re mental health. If the reality is that significant portions of police time and resource are being used in effect to try and mitigate for the lack of actual support and services for those with mental health issues then we should look at this I think. Spending less on police per se and using that money on mental health services might actually allow the police to server and protect against criminality better with less funds and whilst also reducing flash points that can lead only to bad places to boot.
If police officers like Chauvin and their ilk end up resigning then that is a result as far as I am concerned.

I am not yet convinced that the scale and duration and looting being seen is sufficient to lead to this. It did not happen with Rodney King riots previously for example. This is hard to judge given that media will always skew coverage to the sensationalist even before political agenda kicks in. So I am not saying this is impossible but I would need to see some evidence that there are material negative outcomes from truck drivers refusing to serve certain areas other than your youtube guy or just fox news speculating about it.

This isn't rocket science mate.
I do not disagree with you here I just remain to be convinced that any such places yet exists in the US, even in the "CHAZ" or that there are any serious politicians anywhere seeking to achieve such. I think there are news outlets that have a vested interest in creating an impression that such politicians exists but I am not yet convinced myself.
