My very first visit to Cyprus after emigrating to the UK was in July of 1966. I was then just 20 years old and so was my then girlfriend, a year later to become my wife. I so much wanted her to visit Cyprus , my place of birth. We spent just a week staying in Varosi, Limassol and Paphos after a short stay in Nicosia. Visited my village Stroumbi, she so much wanted to see the earthquake stricken village that I had told her so much about. She fell in love with Cyprus a love that lasted to her dying days, so much so she chose Limassol as her for ever resting place.

Numerous visits followed increasing in the 80s to 6 or 7 times a year. The joy of getting on the plane heading for Cyprus was overwhelming, the sadness of returning home to the UK also.

As I now wake up each morning without counting the days of return feels me up with such pure joy, the realization that there is no plane to catch, no suitcase to pack. Each day is embraced joyfully, realizing fully that money is by no means the main ingredient of contentment and happiness.

It rained yesterday in Limassol, thunder too.
Took my afternoon keep whilst the rain was coming down at just after 2pm. Woke up at 3.30, rain had stopped King Sun was out and so was I, went fishing !! What a wonderful life here on Paradise Island !!

I saw it twice last year, when I was visiting Cyprus (both the North and the South) .

It seemed to me that this place is blessed with one of the most magnifcient skyscapes one could ever encounter in life.

A year plus in and Cyprus is still MY Paradise Island, but let clarify something in view of some comments that seem to dismiss my claim.
Im a 72 years young, Im not seeking employment, I do not have either a mortgage or loans to repay, I.do not have to bring up my children, and I do not have a boss. All in all Im " free " man enjoying my time on Paradise Island.also Im a very healrhy man apart from diabetes and cancer !!

My Jag has now been in Cyprus for just over 14 months. Still has not been approved for duty free status as per EU regulations covering EU citizens taking their car anywhere within the EU duty free provided the vehicle was owned and registered in the name of the citizen for 6 months or more. This of course means that the car has no MOT since in order to obtain one the car has to have a Cypriot registration number. I have followed all legal requirements and have been obtaining extensions to the " temporary" importation of my car.
The reason ? My refusal to supply information requested by Nicosia customs which are not in any way relevant or legally required.
I have been asked to supply following which I have refused to do.
This is an exact copy of this ludicrous and in no way legal request

1. Λογαριασμούς καθημερινών εξόδων η αναλιτικη κατάστασης τραπεζιτικόυ λογαριασμού στην Κύπρο από 16/04/2017 μέχρι σήμερα.
They are therefore asking me to provide my daily expenses since arriving in Cyprus !!!
My response.
Do I have to provide my ...gambling expenses or the maintenance I provide to my 6 mistresses, one each day of the week but never on Sunday as well as my wine consumption ?
Response by phone είναι νόμος. Μy response, it bloody well isn't, dont make it up as you go along.
The other request is even more absurd.
2. Λογαριασμούς καθημερινών εξόδων στην Αγγλία από τις 16/4/16 μέχρι 16/4/2017.
So I have been requested to supply information on my daily expenses in the UK for a year before coming to Cyprus.
I know that Cyprus is regularly fined by the EU for non compliance of directives.

I have refused to provide these absurdities
and maybe , just maybe , They will drop these silly non legal demands.

Milti, when they say 'en o nomos' tell them to point you to the exact law, article, section etc. Tell them you are going to sue them unless they drop this act, see what they say.
