When i got downstairs both passengers and the driver were outside their car without any signs of injury just clearly pissed.i think i have in the past mentioned that my wife and I meet regularly but do not as yet live together until the end of 2018 when she will live with me permanently in Cyprus.
Talking about dogs, on Tuesday May 9th, my 71st birthday as I was coming out of my daughters house I spotted this little puppie , a Yorkshire Terrier right in the midfle of a busy road. I stopped the traffic and tried to no avail to divert the puppie on to the pavement, having no sucess i picked it up , soon discovered it was a boy. My self and daughter took him to a vet in order to have him scanned for a chip. Although he had a collar there was no name attached. Thete was no chip.
Went to Yermadoyia police station and adviced that i should put him into a pound, something i would not do. My daughter posted a photo of him on facebook and also on bazaraki.com, as well as numerous posters around the vicity. Well im now truly in love with .....Georgie, his name. Since we allready have 2 dogs wr ate trying to find him a home. Mayby GR would like to have him

No way... :) the average 1.4ltr hatch is about 1250kg and the average 1.2ltr 3-cylinder matchbox is about 900kg!

The little cars are great in suburbia for pizza delivery and taking toddlers to the park, but I wouldn’t take them cross country... well not unless you've got a full gasket replacement kit!

You are probably comparing different cars. I have the specs for the Scoda Fabia (similar to VW Polo), with the 1 ltr engine the weight is 1055kg, with 1.2 is 1109kg and with the 1.4 diesel is 1156kg ... so about 100kg difference between 1 ltr and 1.4 ltr. when everything is the same apart from the engine. Cyprus is a small place... we aren't Australia ... "cross country" here is not all that much and not a problem for a modern 1 ltr turbo car. Yes, if you do Paphos - Nicosia 5 days a week, or if you have a big family or carry a lot of weight, then get something bigger, but other than that even 1 ltr is fine these days for most people. 900kg you are thinking something like the Smart or VW Up, which is an even smaller category and not what I am talking about. Those are indeed meant to be City cars... but in Cyprus even those cars can easily handle the occasional Limassol - Nicosia trip.

At about 10.45 pm my brother went to bed and I decided to stay at his apartment for the night. No sooner had my eyes closed and was awakened by a thunderous crash , my nephew who was still up rushed into my bedroom and gave the sad news. Someone had crashed the drivers rear side of my car !!! I rushed downstairs , adrenaline at the highest point and saw the offending car six metres away from my car having also crashed on to another car. I quicly inspected my Jag and was fuming. The force of the crash was so severe it left a great big hole on the rear side. The offending car , a Golf was minus the left front wheel having collspsed from the impact and was full of smoke. Someone had called the fire brigade and an ambulance arriving promptly. I approached the driver and his two passengers, all men in their late 20s early 30s remonstrating angrily . All were Polish, all fucking pissed out of their heads.
You fucking bastard i said to the young driver. Look what you ve'done to my car you drunken fuckpot. He spoke in Greek to tell me he has insurance. The police arrived shorty and got on in a very efficient and professional manner with the task . Obviously
They could smell alcohol on me but realized on seing me without a shirt that my car was parked properly.
The stupid bastard driver was breathilized the reading being 95 !!. He was promptly arrested while i was still calling him the same names that I shall soon call the fucking psychopath

So Milti, what happens now with the Jag? Can it be repaired and were you fully insured, since I'm not so sure the other party will have insurance. Look on the bright side. Good thing you were not in the Jag at the time of collision since you could have had serious injury and also done for drink driving along with the Poles and thirdly, your insurance would not have covered the car or you for that matter.

They did you a favor… nobody in the right mind wants a 70s Jaguar Sovereign anymore because the year is 2017!

With the insurance money you should get a nice modern 1.5 hatch like the rest of us.

Like Oracle said, this is Cyprus... not Kray twins territory!

Hi Kikapu.
First thing i did on arriving in Cyprus was to get the car insured . Luckily for me the offending driver had insurance .
Following the crash i rung my insurance co. and a few minutes later i received a call from a garage who subsequently collected my car.
I have been given a courtecy car and i expect the Jag to be ready tuesday / wednesday.
I have owned the car from new and only done 63 thousand miles. It drives superbly .

My very first Jaguar was the now classic Mark 10, there followed other Jags including a very troublesome XJ 12 that put me off Jags switching to Mercedes.
In the early 70s i went for the Datsun , now Nissan. My first being a Bluebird SSS . In the eighties with a growing family i switched to Mercedes again.
My current X- Type is by far the best Jag i have ever had.
Since the impact was on the drivers rear side it will be repaired , I hope, satisfactorily. Im not that bothered about cosmetics , performance and reliability is my priority. I plan to tour the whole island and get acquainted with every single village, staying where ever i find accommodation. Im very excited being here for good
Enjoying every day every minute. I love the Cypriot dialect and use it constantly and instinctively refraining from using english words. Im a talkative....young man and i interact well with all Cypriots, excluding of course ...GR

Sorry to hear about your car Milti, I hope it gets repaired and back to its original condition. Similar thing happened to my Dad in the 60's but the repair was awful. I hope you are enjoying your retirement in Cyprus now, I'll get in touch next time I'm in Cyprus if you are up for a glass of red or two.
