so sorry to hear your predicament, the official minimum wage in cyprus is 924 euros a month. taking a month to be 4 weeks at 40 hours, a month should give you 5.77 euros per hour. although you do need to be 23 for this figure, quite why i can never understand.

you have to look at self employment to make money. It is now approching summer, if I was you I would sell icecream and soft drinks at a corner somewhere. there is also the traders that go round on push carts selling local produce and are on piece rate, they must make decent money otherwise they would not do it for so long.

Fast food places are never meant to be where you make a living. More like for students living at home, or it is the second job to subsidize your main job. Summer is coming, so perhaps you can look for a job in the tourist industry where tipping is possible. Good luck to you.

The fact is the Government itself knows that the majority of employers do violate the minimum monthly salary law, however they do nothing to protect the working class. I have never seen the the Social insurance department of the Ministry of Labor calling ANY employer (who is obliged to both report your monthly salary and pay a % social insurance based on that) telling him "hey you pay your worker below the minimum, therefore you VIOLATE THE LAW".
As you know in Cyprus the laws and punishments are only for the poor not for the rich.

All the Police knows of doing here is just shoot your car on the radar to milk some huge fine out of you, to make the Government richer. They care less for any other laws that protect your rights, have you e.g ever been robbed? Ask people who have, you would get an idea of what a disgusting Police we have here.
