Why would you want to screw up a good and expensive chopper for the sake of primitive, unguided, and basically useless barrel bombs that are better fired with howitzer-like methods?

And wouldn’t you also have to hover over the enemy while you push this out the window at the risk of getting shot down?

Btw, is this barrel bomb conversion kit considered an upgrade in the Australian air force?

The CNG might not but let me tell you a little story.

The Kaman Seasprite was ordered by the Royal Australian Navy - 11 helicopters for 1 Billion and that was back in 1998. About 100 million per helicopter.

That helicopter is more expensive than the F35 and maybe even the F22 because it was heavily modified with all kinds of magical stuff from south Africa, Israel and USA. it was in effect, a custom build.

And helicopters are basically used as Utilities. They are ideal for Air Lift, Air drop in support of Troops, and can even move around Howitzers, Hummers, APCs, and even main battle tanks.

It's what they are made for as their primary objective.

As for barrel Bombs, I think the ADF are beyond that well and truly.

Can you please put us in touch with the Australian company that supplies these “Barrel Bomb Conversion Kits” (BBCKs) because we definitely need to upgrade to confront the Turkish military!

Oh and btw, these Hooks are not conversion kits either. it's pretty much standard kit on Blackhawk, Seahawk, MH90, and Chinook.

The Hinds of the CNG have them too.

yes sure.

these things and just about everything in Australia's inventory can drop barrel bombs. They can probably drop 50 of them.

Screw guided missiles eh… out with the old and in with barrel bombs baby! 8)

The only tricky part is when you're hovering over the enemy about to drop them... you'll need a loudspeaker:

"Excuse me guys... can you all stand still for a sec because I'm about to drop a barrel on you and I only get one chance! Thanks."

Guided Missiles would never achieve the objectives necessary in built up areas like Aleppo against an enemy you don't know or can't see.

These insurgents just go from building to building through their underground tunnel network.

So yes, barrel bomb = more effective but also a war crime.

barrel Bombs were used for maximum damage against civilians and insurgents alike. There was no such thing as a miss. If they kill 200 civilians, then it achieved its objective. If it killed insurgents inside their bunkers, then bonus.

its a crude and dirty Bunker bomb. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bunker_buster

I think it’s high time you revealed your true identity to the forum Paphitis!

Come one, be honest… you’re a top NATO commander aren’t you? 8)

I knew it man… I swear I knew I was talking to no ordinary man! 8)

Apologies for the irrelevant derail, which wasn't my fault.

I will try and get back on topic.

Found this link that gives great insight into the freedoms granted to the people and the press in Russia. it also talks about the political assassination of Nemtsov.

it also talks about the diversionary tactics used by Pootin as he moves towards totalitarianism.
