I don't intend on prejudice or condescension, but I personally view Cypriot men who perceive Russian women as easy targets to be desperate and lonesome. Having resided in Limassol for the past 8 odd years, I've encountered countless men whose perspective toward Eastern-European women is highly offensive and degrading.
On one occasion, an adolescent boy claimed that Cyprus is superior to Russia, but how could such a thing even be considered? Russia possesses over 4,000 operational nuclear bombs, as well as countless other weapons which are eons ahead of Cyprus. A platoon of Spetsnaz will debilitate this island alone.
Apart from this conspicuous prejudice toward Eastern-Europeans, I bring forth the ever-growing problem of racism in Cyprus. Having experienced it on more than one occasion, I have heard countless racist remarks about individuals from all countries, ranging from America to England, France and etc. A survey carried out at a public school in Larnaca revealed that 7 out of 10 students attending believe that Cyprus is superior and that he/she views immigrants from numerous countries as lower than him/herself or to his/her fellow Cypriot classmates. In addition to this, an article in a Russian newspaper, depicting the incineration of a Russian restaraunt/club solidifies the degree of racism in this country. This is unacceptable and is seldom justified, but it is the uncomfortable truth.
As for Russian women, whoever considers the majority of them as prostitutes should be sent to the Gulags. Being a Ukrainian, I'm aware of the horrors that have incapacitated my country, barbarous events such as The Holodomor and etc. Having in mind the terrible tortures that we have endured, we prevailed. And until recently, our economy was not far behind the Cypriot one. The EU widened the gap, but the fact that there are numerous Russian men that dwarf the richest Cypriot men is indisputable.
