The relative freedoms we have to be critical only exist to the same extent in theory in Russia...he has suppressed the independant Press and other organisations that may be critical, and critics get murdered. He has levered business deals so that some have been forced to sell out to cronies.

Indeed under Putin there are probably fewer people controlling more of the wealth than under the Tsars, and if the stories are true, the biggest wealth holder of them all is Putin.

A typical response of a gullible western hypocrite who gets his information from CNN. :)

There are more millionaires and billionaires in Russia today than ever before.

Kindly return to your medieval monarchy where you can pay your respects to your 90 year old skeleton of a "queen" that has more treasures stashed away in underground bunkers than the rest of the world combined!

I get my information from a number of sources, seldom CNN, some even from Russians both outside and inside Russia.,

BTW The Queen is not nearly as wealthy as you think....not that I am sure you are currently thinking, but rather regurgitating from sources at least as dubious as the daily mail or daily express...

She was an expanding empire under the Tsars and later under Stalin. Some of The Edges of the empire dropped away with the collapse of communism in the late 80's and early 90's but Putin wants them back, where in my view he has as much right as Erdogun does to rebuild the Ottoman Empire, as he is widely alleged to be attempting.

Hold on for a minute. How do you know Putin wants them back on the first place?? This is just an assumption that doesn't agree with historical events. After the collapse of the USSR Russia just formed a confederation with those other 14 countries (Commonwealth of independent Countries) mostly for military reasons. There has not been any evidence so far that Russia wants them back. If you look at the map those other 14 countries are not even 1/10th of the size of Russia, Russia doesn't really need them.
It's the Yanks that act as aggressors once again trying to convince those 14 to join NATO, what for (other than aggression reasons??) I really wonder.

We have a lot of Russians living here in Cyprus. I heard nobody describing Putin as a dictator or the situation in Russia resembling that of a dictatorship....This is mostly western propaganda imo.

I read that one of her rocks alone is worth more than your entire economy!

Entire books have been written boasting of her wealth while millions in the UK are homeless and starving!

A country run by a medieval monarchy with treasures stashed away in vaults while most of their citizens live in 200 year old dilapidated terraces, wants to point the finger at Putin?

Are you people for real?

Oh the hypocrisy...

There is no imperialism. I st a group of like minded nations.

Russia isn't much of an obstacle. Just a little Pratt trying to believe it is important and trying to get some attention.

Yes and there are only 2 types of Billionaires. The mates of Pootin and the old Communist Party Oligarchy which dismantled the old Soviet Union, and taking the Nations Infrastructure, resources and utilities.

And the seedy underworld of the Russian Mafia.

Pootin has his tentacles in both those worlds.

He was a KGB agent and could destroy the Mafia if he wanted to but he doesn't want to because they are his mates. And btw, the Russian mafia is well established in Cyprus. They are feeding on Cypriots right now especially with their little casinos and clubs, where they embezzle their money, women and drugs into the EU. A lot of it coming via Turkey and the occupied North. That is how they do it.

Pootin himself is a multi Billionaire.

People need to think. There is only one reason why all the seedy casinos have set up shop on a tiny island and it isn't because they are viable businesses in such a small market.

They are the gateway to EU and then North America. Trafficking their drugs, women, strippers, prostitutes and cleaning their money and into Switzerland.

They can't do it another way. And Pootin's money is coming through Cyprus too.

And the rest of you idiots think they want a solution to the Cyprus Question imish. Dream on! They're Mafia and they need to traffic their Billions and they don't give a stuff about Cyprus or anyone else other than themselves. And they will kill anyone who gets in their way.

I use to go out with one of their girls for a while who probably wanted to marry me even just so she could escape and come into Australia probably. Yeh I'm not delusional about it either. Probably fortunate to be alive.

Think about it! Why doesn't any other country open casinos in Cyprus? You guys actually think the Russians care about the few old farts and their minuscule amounts of Pension Euros which they willlose in their establishments? You guys are deluded!
They even own the BoC now. Why did these Billionaires use Cyprus and not go straight to EY, France, UK, Germany, Hapan, Australia, or America? Because they need to clean their money first fools. And everything comes through the trnc.

What you are overlooking is that most of the jewels and palaces do not belong to HM, they belong to the State. She is wealthy in her own right no doubt, but to include all the publicly owned wealth does not give a fair representation of her personal wealth. She no more owns Buckingham Palace than Trump owns the White House or Putin owns the Kremlin!

And don't think the EU or anyone isn't aware of what is going on, and hence why Cyprus got fucked over with Banking levies. The troika took an opportunity to tax Russian Mafia money. Pure and simple!

No other EU country got that treatment. Greece didn't.

They couldn't come out and just tell you all but one thing is for sure. Your children will pay the bail out money 3 times over and then some.
