Halloumi and I have been great friends for well over half a century, a friendship that will last for the rest of my life. Along with halloumi, ameletita, koutchia and fasolia, not forgetting faggi, avgolemoni and trahana , makaronia tou fournou and a myriad of mezedes, all washed down with a glass or two or three or more of red wine. As the saying goes you can take a Cypriot out of Cyprus but can never take Cyprus out of a Cypriot.
Our Paradise Island has the best of all foods and may I say the best of everything, our weather not least, our people and their tremendous sense of humour, phrases such as Ekopsa me re koumbare, Ehathiken o kosmos, stin astochia pai che to halazi . Our wonderfully rich language our unique dialect and above all our tremendous love of all that are good in life.
