You mean a material progress right (for whatever it's worth :? )… or did you assume that 2 billion Muslims will abandon Islam and join your aimless atheist club?

2 ...Billion !!
I thought they were 1.6 billion out of which more than 40% are totally illiterate. Still I understand why you, a religious psycho, would have different views.
There is NO GOD. When they realize that maybe they will abandon the dark ages and join the 21st century !

The only time I have ever been threatened by an'Islamofascist' was in Saudi when I was marched of by the customs man in Jeddah Airport for having a CTO poster of a priest painting an Icon! The only word I could understand was 'Christian' ..... and he spat on the floor every time he uttered the word. But .... hey this is the world your mate Paphitis idolises and admires!

Given the choice of either Iran or Saudi ..... Iran wins hands down. A much more educated and cultured people.

100 % agree with the above.

As long as humanity continues to advance, I believe that the hangover of primitive thought known as religion is ultimately doomed. On the other hand, humamity could well also be dragged back into a primitive era in which belief in things that patently do not exist is forced on everybody, as it is in countries like Iran or Saudi Arabia today. You will actually find that about 5-10% of the people you glibly label Muslims are in fact atheists but many of them keep it to themselves. Hardly surprising, given that in the two benighted countries just mentioned the mere outward expression of such a genuine personal conviction would amount to a death sentence.

One resource that will come as a challenge for those who think that the whole Arab world is indoctrinated by religion:

A nation that carries out public executions with crowds enjoying the macabre spectacle is a barbaric nation. Cranes are used for hanging those sentenced to death by sharia courts.

Long live the west and long may our culture continue to thrive.

Where did you get the information from to form your views?

I can assure you that from my own personal experience, and they are more enlightened now then than when I was there, the concept you have is a complete distortion. They do none of what you accuse them of now. But it DID happen in the weeks immediately after the revolution and I think quite often it was settling old scores.

Iran is a vast country and there are many villages and hamlets that are very remote and where the old ways still survive. In those villages the only Law is the Laws of Islam i.e. The Koran. This indoctrination has been going on in these remote areas for generations and until they enter the modern world they will continue. But barbarism is not the norm.

Travel to Tehran, Shiras, Isfahan .... any major city and the lifestyle there is far closer to that in the west than you find anywhere in Saudi. The only common denominator between Iran and our world is that they follow the teachings of Islam and we follow the teachings of Christianity (loosely?), but it is a far less stringent interpretation in Iran than applied in other countries in the Middle East. Islamic countries have a far more moral society than we have in the western world but it doe not make them barbarians.

To take your last sentence ..... is OUR culture not in the process of destroying US ?????

Come now Robin, I was never ...present at a public hanging so I take my info from various on line
news media, what everyone else does.
"Iran executes hundreds in brutal crane hangings at mega-prison outside Tehran

Here is another

And another

" Criticism In Iran Over Children Attending Public Executions"
"Iran has the second-highest annual rate of executions in the world, after China.[1] According to the regime, those executed are criminals convicted of felonies such as murder, rape and drug trafficking; human rights activists say that some are regime opponents.[2]
Moderate conservative circles in Iran recently criticized the Iranian public's enthusiasm for attending public hangings, particularly the practice of bringing children to watch them. Jafar Mohammadi, editor of the moderate conservative website Asr-e Iran, wrote in an article that the public's appetite for this activity was a sign of social sickness. He also warned that allowing children to watch executions could cause them irreparable damage, and urged the authorities to intervene to keep them away."

But you have never actually set foot in Iran? So your opinion was formed by what you got from 'social media' ? I can only say ..... I have been there .... and got the tee shirt ..... well actually an antique Persian silk Rug and certainly in the cities it was nothing like you describe..

The 'mega' prison I think you will find is Evin Prison ...... it is NOT mega and much of it is built into the hillside. I used to stopover in Tehran at the Evin Hotel which overlooked the prison. Never heard any screams or saw any cranes going in or out. In fact you saw virtually no movement at all. Grim place though. :?
