Constituent states or Federated States?

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Constituent states or Federated States?

Postby MrH » Fri Dec 30, 2016 4:33 pm

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Constituent_state

"Constituent states united in a federal union under a federal government are more specifically known as federated states"

In other words, after this new BBF agreement has been signed, the "Constituent" wording will very quickly be replaced with its official "Federated" reference, and they'll be RECOGNISED at an international level! Need I say more!

Actually,

the second part of that link is even better!

"Administrative units that are not federated but enjoy a greater degree of autonomy or self-government than others within the same country can be considered constituent states of a larger sovereign state. This relationship is called a federacy.[3] Autonomous republics like Karakalpakstan in Uzbekistan"

This one is even better!

"The term can also be applied as an alternative to formal recognition of a secessionist state that has unilaterally declared independence, and whose de jure sovereignty remains in dispute."

And here's me thinking that Akinci will be giving up our rights! LOL.........His last meeting in Ankara made many Turkish Diplomats and MP very happy indeed when he discussed the future of a possible Turkish Cypriot Constituent State in Cyprus and the benefits and changes it will bring - at an internationally accepted level. It looks like the so called legalisation of the "Invasion of 1974" as the Greek Cypriots so hauntingly put it is set to soon become a beautiful reality!

Ooops - Now this section of the URL above is classic:

Cyprus

The country of Cyprus is divided between two independent political entities: the internationally recognised Republic of Cyprus in the south, and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, which is recognised as a sovereign state only by Turkey. Both entities are given the title of constituent state of Cyprus by the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, and the Annan Plan for reuniting Cyprus consistently used the term constituent state to refer to each entity.[7]

It doesn't count for you though because you're only getting the largest of the three.
