The modern methods of 'Torture' practiced by 'Christian Societies' no longer rely upon the use of crude and cruel devices to inflict pain upon those they wish to either extract information from or punish for some crime or other, they have developed a far cheaper and more effective means of ensuring that ALL who dwell in their governance will suffer.

The application of 'Mental torment' and various forms of 'Forced aggravation' applied in many guises, ensures that those who are subjected to either (everyone in the UK) will be obliged to spend most of their lives in a state of frustration trying to deal with situations which seem to appear from nowhere yet have an absolute control over everything they do.

God (or Allah) be with the days when one could call a 'Spade a Spade' without reproach, when 'Gays' were known as 'Queers' or 'Poofs' and frowned upon (or shunned) by society.

Small wonder that there is so much 'Frothing at the Mouth' when opinions differ, it must be extremely hard to maintain a civil tongue when one is bound by rules that are a ponderous weight upon 'Freedom of Speech' and 'Civil Liberties'.

I think what you are referring to is the French conquest of Algeria which happened between 1830 and 1847. It was under Ottoman occupation and an estimated 1 to 1.5 million algerians died and about 500,000 t0 1 million more from starvation and desease.

What does this have to do with Christianity? The French may be Christians but they did not do this in Christs name or because Jesus told them to.
