Only n00bs download using p2p and not binary newsgroups on port 80

Primetel records your total download speed and amount, not only the peer2peer traffic.

So even if you download from binary newsgroups on port 80 10gb in 3-4 days you will get penalty and get decreased download speed and increase in ms to all servers etc.

Thats why I don't use primetel

my 2p

Postby pimpmyrouter » Sat Mar 03, 2007 11:39 am

Greetings,

I brushed over the rather lengthy 8 page thread and thought as a community participant it would be nice if could share my two pence with the rest.

As far as CyTA controlling anything the only thing that they actually can control is their own equipment.

When a CyTA subscriber decides to move over to PrimeTel CyTA cannot control this procedure or the connectivity after that.

Your line is PHYSICALLY disconnected from a CyTA exchange and "hooked up" if you will , to a PrimeTel exchange.

There have been talk of the last mile issue though. Does anyone know about this ?

Last mile - would be the physical cable running from your house to the electricity pole. Does anyone know about the duristriction with regards to that ? Presumably it's CyTA ?

Thanks,
PMR

As i did a trace route and check my ip (i have Netway over Primetel) i see NO hop connection of Cyta. (nothing passes through Cyta computer etc).
They just use the cable in order to avoid installing new cables to every house

My ping-ms signal now has gone to half that what i was when i had Primetel as telephone and ISP provider (Netway over Primetel RULES)

I am downloading torrents the past 2 days with an average speed of 120kb/sec (maximum if you have 1000/256 connection)

It takes about 2-3 days to transfer.
You just call NetWay and tell them to transfer you.
Then they call you when transfered to tell you some settings.
That's it, you Fly :)

this adsl2 is totally dependable on the telecom exchanges. not everyone will get 24Mbps, not mentioning to get the max you gotta sit next to the exchange. totally dependable on distance from the exchange, the further the less

in australia we will never get 24Mbps, because our exchanges are old, as well as great distances between them. We just signed up, on what we call enchanced adsl, which if you are sitting next to the exchange the max you will get is 8Mbps. the max we got so far at our premises flaxuates between 3.5Mbps to 5Mbps.

here is little test you can run to see your current speed
