This is just the max speed that can be transfer through their cables but will not be given as Internet speed to nobody.
Some of thsi bandwidth will be given locally for TV and Tel.
Not Internet.

Also the 24 Mbit is the maximum theoretical speed which is distance dependent (distance of subscriber from the DSLAM)...since the DSLAMs are physically located in the exchanges, the could have subscribers as far away as 10km...At this distance DSL cannot transfer video, which limits the service to 2 play only (voice and data)

NEWS About PRIMETEL

Postby charisk123 » Tue Feb 27, 2007 2:29 pm

PrimeTel

Today they finally told me the truth that they use priority on their Internet Services. So if you download 10gb in one week (upon their judgment, no predetermined limits) they will decrease your priority and so bandwidth to minimum for the next week.

I have downloaded 10gb the last few days and now my brother plays Counter Stike and has ping of 500ms+ because of this. And they Support told us that you get punished for downloading 10gb last few days. Thats their policies.

Here are my speed tests results the next day of downloading 10gb. (just speed test, I am at low priority now)

I have 750/256 Adsl2+ and i get :

I regret the time i install Primetel.
In my opinion is not good ISP for those who download.

FORTUNATELY I WILL MOVE TODAY TO PRIMETEL- NETWAY (1000/256) they made agreement PRIMETEL- NETWAY!

I was very satisfied with Netway at adsl and now i will test adsl2+ !

I will infrom you about the results of NETWAY thought Primetel Lines and Modem.

Primetel has less total Internet Bandwidth than what is required by the number of users it has thats why is logical to limit its traffic and also impose penalties on users with high download rate.

charisk123, how much do you pay for Primetel/Netway? Do you pay less for Primetel when you don't use them as ISP? And how much is Netway over Primetel? Here are my results. My girlfriend was talking to her sister on MSN so that might affected the speed a bit.

The results i posted above is with Primetel 750/256 adsl2+ after i got the penalty of downloading 10gb.

Primetel with Netway ISP (100/256) is:

30 pounds (paid all at NETWAY ) no charge from Primetel anymore
+ 10 if i want primetel tv (for those with NOVA not needed)

I will test it and i will tell you results.

and what you do? Download stuff at half speed? That test is one good indication. If you don't get near the advertised speeds at such test then it means your connection is crap and no further testing can change this.

Only n00bs download using p2p and not binary newsgroups on port 80

Primetel records your total download speed and amount, not only the peer2peer traffic.

So even if you download from binary newsgroups on port 80 10gb in 3-4 days you will get penalty and get decreased download speed and increase in ms to all servers etc.
