Primtel just showed up at the door today offering what they said was 100 limited free trials to people in this areas of Limassol. We signed up, they said it will be operational next month. They switch your number over to their provider, proived you with 25 channels, a set-top box that lets you pause and record live TV, ADSL internet, free calls on weekends, lower rates, "5x faster internet than any other provider" .....

Sounded too good to be true so we signed up :) Will see next month.....

WEll they said it wasn't finalized but basically mentioned the same channels listed on cablenets website.... then said to check their website for more details, but the primetel website has nothing....

Dunno will let you know when it comes on if it lives up to their hype. Basically, we're the guinnea pigs, they're testing the system on us, so there's bound to be some initial problems... still for free i'm not complaining.

I'm assuming, since they showed up at our place, the area is Germasogia... near tourist area :)

I have some friends there but none was offered this. Do you have any connections with Prime Tel tcklim? ;) Let us know when they will install it for you. I am very interested. Did they say how much it will cost after the free trial is over?

I really don't know let me just type out exactly what's on this piece of paper they gave us:

"We are offering FREE to the people ONLY in this area, this amazing TRIPLE PLAY package that includes:"

"Telephony
- PrimeTel to PrimeTel subscribers talk FREE all weekend.
- Cheaper National calls, than any other privoder in Cyprus (up to 20%)
- Cheaper INTERNATIONAL calls, than any other provider (up to 30%)
- You will be able to keep your CURRENT telephone number.
- If you don't have a telephone line we will provide it to you FREE of charge."

"The Power of Broadband
- 5 x FASTER Internet than any other provider
- Connected on the Internet 24/7
- Able to TALK and SURF the Internet at the SAME time."

"Start Package Digital TV
- We offer FREE approximately 20-25 channels that will be of Digital Quality. (in other words the picture will be crystal clear) Like DVD quality.
- You will be able to pause and record live TV.
- You will NEVER have to use an aerial or antenna again!!"

"Also included for FREE
- Line rental and installation
- Your connection fee and all equipment provided to you.
- Your internet time online
- Your transfer fee, as we take care of the paperwork with your previous telecommunication company."

"All you pay is the telephone calls you make, which are cheaper than any other telephony provider! You will receive at the end of each month, one bill showing the calls you have made in the current period"

And that's all I know for now.... you can upgrade that "Starter Package" to get more channels or something, but that's not until later..... really clueless, will let you know when they set it up.

They were walking around door to door to get signatures, so I guess, if you're friends weren't home (it was about 4 or 5 p.m) then might have missed an opportunity... got no clue how they went about it though didn't ask.

Sounds good.

If they can do what they promise realibly then Cyta will have a huge problem and they will not be able to avoid installing ADSL2+ themselves.

I think they might be up to something already:

You are wrong. There is A LOT OF infrastructure. And there are few test users connected already. The fac that you don't have it, doesn't mean that noone has it. ;)

Cheer up! :)

Less than 100 for the one that tcklim got with "5 x FASTER Internet than any other provider" (5Mbit?) or for the 24Mbit? Do you know which areas will be covered in Limassol?
