Hey Zan, sounds like you got more than your share in N.Cyprus. Happy New Year
You expect your family to grow with pride, its hate your actually raising them with. Im sorry, this is what is brainwashed into you and your just passing down. Not your fault, I apoligize.
I'm going out on a limb and just giving my thoughts, I think at this point for Turkey to get into the EU, the member states should all vote on the whole nation of Turkey and TCs to take at least 60 hours of anger management classes before entering the EU. Only then they might learn to reason.

With all due respects growupts it appears that you are the angry one. Dont forget Cyprus belongs to us as much as it does you, the land distribution is a result of us messing up big time and not being able to find a solution, so accusing me of raising my family on land that belongs to all Cypriots and was not a result of my direct actions is very unfair.
If the land distribution is to be re-arranged then this has to be negotiated as a package via a comprehensive solution.

Greek and Turkish Cypriots lived happily together under the Brits

Happily? Makes you wonder why everybody in the world wanted to get rid of the so nice colonialists, doesn't it?

The British have used their divide and rule tactics not only Cyprus but from almost every place they were forced to leave. India, Palestine, Africa...

If you can not see this, and you believe that the British and the Americans would let Cyprus alone to decide the fate of a spot so strategically important for them then you are laughable.

If it meant my family would live safely and in tranquility then I wouldnt give a shit about the land but I would expect financial compensation at some stage.

Everybody wants tranquility and safety. But nobody wants his own property to be stolen.

If for you safety is the only important factor and land is not, then why did you stole twice as much as what you left behind? Would you accept if we bought from you your share of land, and with this compensation you could go live in turkey or elsewhere in safety far from the GC "monsters"?

My father owns 64 donums in the buffer zone. Lets hope we have another year of peace for each and every donum we have lost.

You left behind 64 you stole 128. Don't pretend to be the victim.

You say this often. Do you think it is unnatural to be angry when your land is stolen and the thieves refuse to obey the laws and the court rulings (UN resolutions, ECHR rulings etc).

I hope you are not one of the councillors.

I have raised my family in England because Greeks/GCs that tried to kill me in 1963 chased me out of my country. I have taught my children to be tolerant of every race, creed and colour. I have also warned them about people like you that only see the world from one perspective and have no idea about what others might be feeling. Your ways of trying to divert attention from what all right thinking people know and distort the true reasons for why the world is like it is today.

I am watching a documentary about teenagers with Turrets syndrome at the moment and when I read posts like yours that shame the GCs that died at the hands of the EOKA terrorists, I feel like I have the syndrome my self and want to tell you what I really think of you. However I have not got that problem and can only hope that you get where I am coming from.

Viewpoint, what your saying is if you had a credit card dispute, for over a year back and forth, and until they find a solution to who pays for the bill, they should take all your assets til the matter is resolved. Well thats what your implying. And if you think my scenario is out of whack, well thats why all this non-movement in the Cyprus problem will never end, because no one wants to bother with something that doesnt involve them. But what Turkey is trying to get away with would set presidence on all the illegal activity that they try to pull off in the future. So do you get it yet why you'll never get N.Cyprus.
Credit cards and community disputes are hardly comparable but as you must admitt the disput to how we solve our problems can ony be achieved through dialogue which unfortunately we have none of so the likelihood of us achieving anything is very remote in the current climate.

Viewpoint I wish I could be as understanding as yourself but I cant just forgive and forget the way you do. Once again let me emphasise the point here that its not the TC that I have the problem with but mainland turkey who is trying to dictate what should occur along with the other 2 power hungry nations in the USA and UK. The sooner they figure out they dont need each other and they have no use for cyprus the sooner the republic can be unified, until then we are all just part of a political game which cant be won.
