Do we need more craziness in Cypriot Politics?

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Damn that was a good story. Don't know whether to laugh or cry. Are you representing him in court by any chance Kifeas?

Please could you do the same for these guys. I'm dying to hear your spin on this.

Police officers charged with extortion

TWO LAW enforcement officers were yesterday charged with a string of serious felonies, including extortion, conspiracy to commit a crime and abuse of power.

A Limassol court heard yesterday how the two policemen, with the aid of a 35-year-old civilian, attempted and succeeded in blackmailing a foreign national into paying them £12,500 to help him deport his wife.

According to the foreigner, who reported the case, back in June he contacted a special constable, telling him he wanted his wife to leave the country because of domestic troubles. The constable then put him in touch with a 45-year-old police officer, who asked for a reward to arrange the matter.

The 45-year-old next arranged a meeting between himself, the foreigner and another man, a 35-year-old man also from Limassol, who was introduced as the officer’s “associate”.

According to the plaintiff, between the months of June and December, the police officer and the 35-year-old asked him for various amounts of money for their services. Initially they demanded £1,500, but in subsequent communications worked their way up to a £12,500 total.

The foreigner also revealed that on one occasion the 45-year-old officer asked him to visit a certain location in Limassol and pick up a package from someone. The item turned out to be a makeshift pipe bomb, for which the officer had allegedly paid £150.

According to the plaintiff, the three men warned him not to tell authorities about their arrangement or the bomb, otherwise they would harm him and his family.

The two policemen have been charged on the following counts: conspiracy to commit a felony, extortion with the purpose of monetary gain, appropriating £12,500 from said extortion, illegal possession and trafficking of explosive devices, oversight in preventing a crime, and abuse of power.

They have been suspended on the orders of the police chief, and in the meantime a disciplinary probe has been initiated.

The 35-year-old is also in custody.

Limassol CID is investigating.

He is a criminal on the run from the RoC. He probably thinks that the flag incident is a lesser crime and once he is released by the TRNC he will do a runner?

Since according to you he is a criminal, why you didn’t come over to join the rest of your “grey wolf” buddies in their efforts to lynch him outside the occupational military “court” this afternoon?

By the way, he is not on the run from the RoC! He had actually entered the occupied areas from the regular entry check point in Ledra palace, thus he had passed in front of many RoC policemen before reaching it.[/quote]

Grew Wolves are a few fascist thugs, which have almost no support among Turkish Cypriots. They represent us as much as Xrisi Avgi represents the Greek Cypriots.
