its 2006 now, time to reunite

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Unlike you, I am asking for nothing in addition to the 1960 agreements.

Yes you are. You are asking for all the land that belonged to the TCs at the time from which they were driven out by Makarios' henchmen Grivas and Sampson.

I have had that view for a while and I have to tell you my friend not to be sad. There is a positive side to this as well. You just have to look for it. I was speaking to someone last night that said "Recognition will bring us closer to unification" and I have thought that all along. This is not the end, it is the beginning of two cultures getting to know them selves as well as each other. Where else can we go when we have no one to hate. We will miss each other and forget our differences but it needs time. Be patient and we can sit on a cloud and watch the children play. :)

But where will"recognition" come from, canimin ichi Zan???
And how are we going to stop hating each other when so many of us live in exile or as refugees in our own country???
Partition and Enosis were a big part of the problem, they can never be part of the solution i am afraid...
We can sit on that cloud all right...But where will the children play,my dear Zan???

ps. Let me know is you need Paps phone number ;)

Sotos, Piratis does not want to face the realities before him, cant you see he is in denial and constant chanting for human rights and legalities are a smoke screen to excuse the past and return to the 1960 agreements. Why wasnt he and people like him chanting human rights and legal rights of TCs back in the 1960, his attitude is hypercrictical to a point of sickness. No sooner will we return to the 1960 agreements than he will ask for TC veto to be removed and distribution to be reduced to a 18% 82% split in GC favor. His only intention is to create a GC state with TCs as a minority. We have been there and learned our lesson, we will not be dragged back to a time where GC dominate our island and discriminate against TCs, for that is Piratis style of human rights and legalities.
We want to share the island under a BBF structure, now if he is ready to take on baord the realities around him and return to the negotiating table to work out a plan that would incorporate no tonly what I want but what he wants then Im all for reunification. But unfortunately as you see from his bloody mindiness you cannot negotiate with a man/leader/community that come to the table without the flexiblity and compromise necessary to solve the Cyprus issue. We are all for human rights and legalities but if it means putting the lives of our loves ones at risk forget it. Can you just imagine what a mindset like Piratis could do against TCs in a united Cyprus?? frightening to even think about. This is a very good example of why I truely feel we will never be able to solve the Cyprus issue and goes towards fuelling the stalemate we are all living today.

I am willing to give up the army
I am willing to reduce number of settlers
I am willing for the maximum number of GC refugees to return
I am willing to live and work with GCs
I am willing for GCs to settle wherever they wish

So what you say is that you will give up nothing that legally belongs to you and instead you will continue the violations against only in a reduced form if we accept the legalization of all the remaining violations?

What are you willing to do Piratis?

Unlike you, I am asking for nothing in addition to the 1960 agreements.

If I was like you my compromises would be:

Instead of ethnically cleansing the whole TC population, I "compromise" to ethnically cleanse only half

Instead of violating all the TCs human rights I "compromise" to violate only half.

I hope you understand how ridiculous you are.

a small suggestion
alexis irakleidis: kypriako , sygroussi kai epilysi
or
digglis : pikres alithies

our negotiating history up to now has shoown that going for all, usually leads us not to only to no-solution, but forcing us accepting a worse one in the future. going for all and we loose what we already have
