No I don’t think they should get sponsored by the government because they’re just not good enough.

In 2009 APOEL made the country’s highest sporting achievement when they made it to CL’s QF, yet never received a dime!

Nobody comes anywhere near this achievement.

WTF are u talking about when an athlete gets sponsored it will be by F'N Company like frigging Adidas or Nike cause of Merchandising and the reason they do this is because when a person wins something like the Olympics he becomes a local hero Kontides in Example has Opap backing him even if he got the third they would get a sponsor deal with him. That is what sponsorship is it will not be by your org but by a third party.

You are right you cant compare 21st and the 80s but still it is a fact in order to beat that fact you gotta have a Player from Cyprus outscore him but in order for that to happen you gotta let local players to play. If not it will still stay and even if the whole island blows to kingdom come cause its documented 4Life. Also This was about the Olympics team you like my response you cant compare football with The Olympics because its all about world Politics on who is better than the other, when a country breeds individuals to perform and achieve a position whether it is Top 10 or 20 that is something huge 4 us.

Well yes it's very hard now for a Cypriot to become top scorer let alone golden boot of the year. Plus some of our good players play in other countries... we even have one playing for Juventus!
