As is written:- "The ways of the Lord are strange ways"... perhaps YOU should take over his job !
With respect. that is an excuse not an explanation. It was this sort of pious explanation when I was very young and was sent to Sunday School (
because it was good for me!) that put me off religion and the idea of there being a God. Nobody had a plausible explanation for all these events accredited to this God. I was told it was wrong to question the teachings of
‘The Lord God Almighty’ and when I am given that sort of reply I look for a rat, because somebody is on a cover up!
In context I agree with Milti, although I would put it more politely.
The Christian God plunged Egypt into the ten plagues........ and according to the teachings of the Church ..... this was a punishment from their God for the wrongs they had committed? So why not do that now? The only way the Islamists are going to get a dose of the plague is from US/Russian/NATO et al. bomb(s), dropped on their heads in the form of biological warfare weaponry.
All religions are distorted by so called priests and prophets but when looked at, their prophesies, predictions and explanations (
excuses) do not hold water! The Muslim killers may use the ‘
Allahu Akbar’ but the US has the ‘
God bless America’ war cry. But .... it is the same God as most religions agree there is only one God.
Most violent deaths in history have been in the name of some God or another, by whatever name the devotees call Him/Her. Doesn’t say much for religious beliefs does it? I go for RT's Moto ...........
'Question More' only that way will you ever get closer to the truth ! I think I will just stick with my conscience.
Robin Hood :-
Whilst accepting your criticism of my reference to the "Strange ways of the Lord" (which was a little tongue in cheek), I think you have misquoted the events which took place in Egypt (during the time of Moses).
I draw your attention to your error since it might upset the 'Jews' if the 'Christians' laid claim to those miraculous events and I am sure that the 'Jews' are upset enough already, judging by the manner in which they are currently engaged in stirring up mayhem across the ME.
Actually, I do not like discussing (particularly critically) ANY religious conviction since too many believers rely upon their particular faith to sustain them through troubled times, it may also discourage the young and THAT is very unfair, the future looks grim enough.
No problem in accepting that 'I' may be wrong, just an observation which I feel you may have overlooked.
