I honestly thought I had finished with posting in cy prob section but every so often some naive plonker (sorry milti for breaking your copywrite) comes along who really winds me up

more bullshit. in 1974 who exactly was terggy supposed return the republic to. who was fit to govern from the gc politicians or the whole political establishment. are you really stupid enough to think that with just a ceasefire in place the terggish army would withdraw and leave the fate of the tcs to you bastards. who is responsible for not signing the peace agreement after 1974.

you peebollll are beyond stupid.

what terggy should have done is take the whole of cyprus and remove the cancerous element of the gc population who wanted enosis which was about three quarters or so of the populations and then return the roc to the cypriots that would have been left.

in the meantime terggy remains till there is peace. now bugger off.

The Court of Appeal in Athens further stated in 1979 that the Turkish invasion was legal and that "The real culprits... are the Greek officers who engineered and staged a coup and prepared the conditions for the invasion".

It talks about the legality of an INTERVENTION to facilitate the immediate restoration of the previous (and legal) state of affairs, but certainly not an OCCUPATION… let alone a 45 year one! :)

thats right, intervention was legal, occupation illegal.

But given that Turkey did NOT restore the state of affairs but instead opted to illegally OCCUPY 37% of Cypriot territory, automatically invalidates the very specific and restricted role that was handed to them in accordance with the Zurich agreements.

resolution 573 of the council of europe was passed in 1974 within months of the invasion and could not have possibly envisaged that there would be an ongoing occupation 42 years later.

This "intervention" was as resolution 573 states in accordance with art 4 of the Zurich treaty which if you read states "should be with the sole aim of re establishing the state of affairs created by the present treaty" (the constitution of the Republic of cyprus)

What about all the UN resolutions demanding withdrawal of Turkish troops

Ffs some people really should do some research before posting

So you mean it is not legal? Take them to court again, why dont you?

Whatabouterism is not an argument, it is a logical fallacy.

I am not a turkophile for speaking the truth. I am not a turkophile when i realize that only throuh peace our children may prosper in cyprus.

eoka-b may have been 15,000 but the whole system was riddled with enosis sympathisers. judges lawyers policemen and politicians as well as public. cyprus will not rest till the system is cleaned up. we see the effect to this day. school children attack tc cars and vandalise them in front of policemen and police do not take any action. not even after the event. when talat was going to speak in limasol a few years back, 6 policemen were on duty to control hundreds of elam supporters.

the system is rotten to the core.

You can not hold a sympathiser responsible, only those who broke the law and participated in a terrorist organisation.

Turkey is responsible for sparing the life of those thugs. GCs are paying heavy price for not exterminating them.

It is my estimate, that 2/3 of GC are tolerating the acts of terrorists organizations like elam, apoel which are roughly 1/10 of total population .I am really sadden by that. Some of my own ex-relatives are a bunch of nationalistic dorks. (i dont consider them relatives any more)
