No, no the koinotarchis is not the mayor. If you need things done by a moukhtar here the bloke you go to uses the title of koinotarchis, as seems to be the case in other urban areas.
It’s all about population size. If a village grows past 5000 odd residents it’ll become a candidate for “shirehood” replacing the muhtaris with a mayor (kinotarhis or dimarhos).
Oh, and your spelling of
“Koinotarchis” is straight out of a uneducated Greek school that cannot comprehend that English pronunciation of Greek words cannot be spelled in Greek for obvious reasons!
The correct spelling if the aim is to assist non-Greek speaking people is
“Kinotarhis”.
