in any case, Cyprus is not "pure", no where should it be expected to be so, either. If it is "Greek", or "Turkish", or "Arabic", or "Latin", in any case one expects that as Cypriots, very many will speak English, likely Greek, too.

...Cypriots, by an overwhelming number may have pride in being Greek,

...being "Greek" on the other hand has demonstrated itself to be a failing, because as Cypriots, Cypriots are better-off. "Greeks" like "Turks" (when it comes to Cyprus) have shown themselves to be no different.

no, the identity of Greeks should not be negated either, as i said, minority rights shall become a big issue in Cyprus, soon.

...he could obviously be Turkish, one may think that merit should count.

indeed, Cyprus, while it is still overwhelmingly Greek, now we are at the advent of many changes which will surely change, what are the demographics in Cyprus. There will be more Cypriots, the issue of our desire to become facilitators of exchange, at many levels, in an ever mobile world as a member of the EU, makes "Greekness" a challenge. People as Persons will have to want to learn Greek, Greek like any language will have to serve another function because Greek will not be a maternal function, what words a baby first learns to speak, because it is likely that the mother, in Cyprus, very soon will prefer English, to Greek, speaking for herself (and for her child).

There is no pride in forcing someone, to "be" Greek, or Turkish, there is a joy in it where those who find that joy are welcome.

I've wanted to say this for a while, but, i think you are afraid to die. And for that reason you are not the best man you can be; calm yourself, take it to another thread.

milti, dr., take your own advice. Calm yourself, avoid being judged no better. Cyprus. remember.

Sorry RW, but can't do that. I just dislike Hypocrisy.

Imagine calling for "Justice for Cyprus" and then advocating the subjugation of other people whether Sunni, Palestinian or something else. It's enough to make you sick!

I love the Flag of Greece and what it represents as a Hellene, too. But i can't help to look at it with shame as a Cypriot. I imagine that a proud Turk, who is Cypriot feels the same way about the Flag of Turkey.

...what is the Cypriot way (an expression i would like to give GR credit for), is neither "Greek", or "Turkish", it is far more complex than the European context, as a crossroad, we share on this island the cultures' of Continents, not just Nations.

The Cypriot way is, the way. For Cypriots, they don't need religion to tell them that Love is an infinite power, by loving, Cypriots serve.

No, i cannot imagine the Turkish Flag flies highest in Cyprus, anywhere in Cyprus, but in context, it should fly in Cyprus, as any friend's of Cyprus should; the day Cyprus is Free.

But don't take my previous post as offensive by any stretch.

What you have written is accurate. There is only one Cyprus Flag, no Greek, no Turkish, no British, no American, no Russian and no Australian Flag other than at the front of their Embassies and at the front of Hotel Chains and resorts.

He is Representing The Republic of Cyprus.

There are Russians in the Australian Olympic Team, and they carry the Australian Flag as Australians not the Russian Flag.

They fled Russia to get away from Pootin and his Olympic Doping and Cheating Industry! They left and were adopted by a better country and became Australians with a better future. :D

Oceanside50 wrote: Try and erase the Britishness of England and you will get the same results as there are in Cyprus..there's a reason minority rights are respected, that's what we should be cheering about in today's EU Cyprus ..trying to de-ethnicize a nation is dangerous and unproductive

No it would be like a white anglo saxon majority in Britain insisting that an anglo saxon flag equally represents those British Citizens that are not white anglo saxon as the British flag does.

Australia is not a British Island. It is an island where a majority of people there are of British cultural and ethnic descent but it is not a British Island. Cyprus is not a Greek island.

Do you believe Oceanside that a TC should have a greater political say over what happens in Cyprus than a mainland Greek who has never been to Cyprus and who's family and descendants have never lived in Cyprus and who may have little or no interest in Cyprus ? Do you believe that Cyprus belongs more to a TC than a mainland Greek who has never been to Cyprus and who's family and descendants have never lived in Cyprus and who may have little or no interest in Cyprus?

This is not about asking or wanting or expecting you to renounce or deny or erase your Greekness. It is about wanting and expecting your to embrace the concept that being Cypriot is about more than just your cultural and ethnic descent. Such is a part of Cyprus of being Cypriot and a large part but it is not ALL there is in being Cypriot.

You already are sick, seriously mate ! You come out with pure shit, no wonder NOT A SINGLE member on the forum considers your views as valid. You used to be pretty level headed way back give or take a fleeting excess now and again, but since assuming command of the coalition forces you have totally lost the plot.
Take my advice son, take a break a week or two, try and get your self together because as you are now nobody gives a toss about your stupid views.
