Sadly not. The UK will be weaker in the world as a small ex-imperial island isolated on the fringes of Europe of which it is not a part. It has become less sovereign and most probably will become even more of a poodle of the US.

My comments on regaining our sovereignty were sarcastic Tim, since the vast majority of Brits actually believed in this total nonsense.
Its a disaster for Britain as it enters uncharted waters. Sterling will become weaker by the day. The Brits will soon realize what a blunder this has been. Still. I'm getting out but much poorer than yesterday.

Sure, I understood that, mate, I just felt it was a good idea to labour the point for the benefit of those who didn't get it.

Hang on to your pounds Milti, they will recover. This happens every time there is some sort of political upset. The speculators make millions panic selling, and then buy back GBP at a cheap rate ...... the price recovers and they make even more money! My prediction ...... the GBP will recover much of these losses within a couple of weeks.

Tim: It could be a disaster if all the Brits do is join the 'remain' side sobbing into their handkerchiefs. What the UK now needs to do is to seize the opportunity they now have and run with the ball. I see no reason why we don't just carry on trading with Europe as we have done for years .... it suits them and it suits us. If the European Leaders want to make life difficult, then we do the same to them. I am sure we could come to a mutually beneficial trade deal with Russia!

The Brexit from the SBAs will be next ... :D

Britain's loss will be Europe's gain.

I hope the EU goes from strength to strength without the destabilizing influences from the UK with its support for a Turkey entry etc

Is there really any reason for these non-EU countries (Britain and Turkey) to maintain military occupations in an EU member state like Cyprus?

Onward for an EU Army that will FREE CYPRUS!

I didn't want it to come to this, but those of us who supported the UK remaining in will now be offered abundant opportunities to turn round and say, "We told you so". For one thing, as the British economy collapses, you can be sure that the UK will no longer be a magnet for migrants.

Maybe not for the European migrants, but still be a magnet for all those 3rd world countries of former British colonies.

I always referred to Britain as a "3rd world country" when ever I visited the UK, and now, it will be more truer than ever.

I had personally cut my ties with the UK in 1979 when I moved to the USA, so this referendum will have very little effect on my life. In actuality, I will benefit from it with the stronger Dollar, Euro and the Swiss Franc. It is time now for Scotland and N. Ireland to also cut their ties with the UK, even Wales. You will then be left with a very divided England, but no longer between Labour and Conservative political parties, but between those looking inward isolationist racist English vs. outward looking European English. England will not be a pleasant place to be able to live with such divided country.

I think people of the UK who will want to remain in the EU, should be able to give up their "British" citizenship in exchange of a Scottish or N. Ireland citizenship, so lets allow people to choose which country should represent them. I will gladly choose Scotland as an EU member state over England out of the EU, specially with racist and ignorant English that will be running the country. My UK passport is due for renewal next year anyway, so the timing will be just perfect to make the switch. I am of course still a Cypriot with EU passport from the RoC.

Life is about to get more expensive for all the carpetbaggers in the "trnc" with the collapse of the £££££. Oh well, life's a bitch and then you die!

Robin, yesterday the MMR was around 1.31 euros to the pound. Let us just presume that I sell a property for 500,000 STG. Yesterday it was worth, at MMR 655,000 Euros. At todays MMR at around 1.21 Es to STG
my hypothetical property sale at £500,000 is worth 605,000 Euros. A drop of 50,000 Euros overnight.

Will it recover in a few weeks? Who knows, Im normally an optimist, Im afraid Im now rather pessimistic.

The working class, mostly in labour held counties have voted decisively to leave Europe, edged on by the nonsense of gaining back control of our country. This result, in financial terms is a bloody disaster for the UK and for me personally. Immigration has been the main issue here, immigration from mostly Eastern Europe, nothing said about immigration from the third world. Well, I have lived in the UK for 55 years, I have come to understand the Brits quite well.

This is a financial disaster for the entire UK.

Yes, this is a good day for Cyprus and a bad day for Britain and Turkey. Turkey has just lost their bum-chums in the EU. :D

It ain't over until the fat lady sings eh...

Leave 51.9%,17,410,742 votes
Remain 48.1%, 16,141,241 votes

The question now is… will they REALLY leave or start drugging their feet?

It’s a good day because it’s the beginning of the end of the dreaded EU!

Wasn't this the bet ? " Lets say the bet is that remain have to win by more than 60% for you to win. 60% or less, OR THEY LOOSE, and I win. Lets also say evens shall we , I think that is pretty fair of me given that you said "I predict that what we're going to see is not only a “win” for Britain to remain in the EU but by a massive LANDSLIDE" and later added "Guaranteed!" ?

So what amount would pique your interest ? 50 Euro ? 100 ? 250 ?

Am always willing to loose my money if I make a bet. If I was not willing to do so I would not bet at all. The question still remains are you willing to put your money were your mouth was or not ?
