That's perfectly true: confirmation bias? I might avidly believe that Columbus never left Europe, whilst the USA moon landings were staged and could produce "irrefutable proof" to support. It is of course a double edged sword. What can be deemed acceptably reasonable in the face of entrenched prejudice? :?

In the case of the EU there are fundamental contradictions which I believe indicate unsustainability. Well, in its current form. I wanted out. With regard to Brexit, surely the proof of the pudding lies in the future eating. Trying to do so now amounts to nothing more than crystal ball gazing. A lot of Forum flaggelation over maybes.

considering britain is not part of the euro why on earth would the eu collapse if uk left it. where is the logic in that. eu was fine before we joined it and it will also be fine long after we are gone if indeed we do go. i cannot see it myself. the ministers are running around like headless chickens trying to work out how to leave. they think they will negotiate the terms of trade for after during leaving. the eu has made it perfectly clear, there will be no future negotiations till uk is out and there will be no negotiations with individual countries. any agreement will have to be approved by all eu members. so in conclusion unless uk accepts all the regulations of the eu including freedom of movement for migrants it will be vetoed by those counties who's workers we restrict. there will be no chickens and no eggs. so no scrambled eggs in my caf.

there are no maybes, we shall leave without a trade deal. then people will realise that they were lead by total idiots. after all the world is our oyster we were told. we an have trading arrangements with the commonwealth we were told. legally we cannot even do deals there till we are out. but i do not think for one moment we will stick by that eu rule. it is time these ministers who backed brexit got off their arse and made a few deals otherwise on the first day after brexit our shops will be empty.

Tim Drayton:
That was not the point. The point of the exercise was to show that I could easily find an article with a headline purporting to show that the EU will survive and prosper. If need, be I could find another ten or even one hundred.

I doubt it .... because I tried it! Are you really telling me that only you have this mystical intellectual power that directs only you to these wholly reliable sites that support your opinion? Like all these numerous surveys you quote but seem unable to present?

Out of curiosity I have just Googled ‘Will the EU survive and prosper?’ (Your words). I got to page 4 before I found a reserved ‘YES’ and it was in the UEF MANIFESTO 2014 ....... (The Union of European Federalists). Maybe it was just a wee bit biased but I read it anyway and even their first paragraph can hardly be claimed to inspire confidence in a secure future for Europe:

"Europe is passing through a period of turbulence and uncertainty. The European Union itself is in deep trouble. The long financial crisis, which has led to economic stagnation, unemployment and political fragmentation, has exposed not only the flaws in the design of the Economic and Monetary Union and the weakness of EU institutions, but also a lack of commitment to European integration by EU states. As a result, the European Union has lost the trust of many citizens.”

This sort of rhetoric obviously convinced you that the EU is as solid as a rock!!!! The UK will survive and prosper when the EU as a political institution, is no more than a few paragraphs in history books. Even the UEF agree it can only survive if changes are made .......... they believe a full Federal State of Europe is the answer. I don't!

My aim was to demonstrate the futility of this silly exercise of using a search engine to find a dozen or so articles with headlines that appear to 'prove' the point you wish to make, copying and pasting them into a thread and then imaging that you have achieved anything.

All you have demonstrated is your own futility. I have come to the conclusion you lack the power of reason and the ability to analyse what you do read ....... which seems to be not that much .......... because you think you know it all anyway.
I am sure that if I wished to 'prove' that Microsoft Corporation is run by aliens, I could find something on the Internet to 'prove' this. There is so much nonsense on the Internet. Just because an article chosen at random there appears to support your point does not on its own count as proof.

Boy you are very mixed up! What you describe maybe your idea of 'proof' but it certainly isn't mine, I am far more difficult to convince .... as you may have gathered?

The internet used by people of reasonable intelligence is an excellent source of information on just about anything but just typing something as a general query and then posting the first answer you get, without even reading it? That is not only a demonstration of your arrogance and stupidity but shows just how this power at our finger tips and can be misapplied when in the hands of fools. You need to sort the wheat from the chaff, to just quote/post unread links is just laughable.

Tell me, where exactly would you go to find detailed information on say Turkey? Maybe the local Kebab House or a Turkish Newspaper?

There we have it. Look! The title of an article on the internet proves my point:

Google is run by Aliens
https://applejuicematt.wordpress.com/20 ... by-aliens/

Proof positive beyond doubt.

PS - For those incapable of noticing, irony is involved in this post.

No .... it is you that misses the point. You made a totally unsubstantiated claim ......... so I put it to the test ......... if I had to cover four pages before I managed even a qualified 'YES', you were obviously wrong in your claims. The links I made were all on the first page of responses and I left out any that were not MSM.

Logical reasoning and comparing the empirical evidence says ....... there are more sites that agree the EU and the Euro will fail than sites that think it will prosper and survive. That could be transposed to people if asked the same question. I think a perfectly reasonable assumption?

Still waiting for the links to these survey you quoted!
