Rubbish - that's the Brexit/Brexodus campaign scaremongering again!

But Turkey must still meet EU criteria, and the deal must be approved by the European Parliament and member states.

I do not quite follow the logic linking this to Brexit. (which I am NOT in favour of)

The bit Lordo missed out was this
http://cyprus-mail.com/2016/05/03/turkey-to-abolish-visas-for-greek-cypriots-as-part-of-eu-deal-turkish-official/

Turkey to abolish visas for Greek Cypriots as part of EU deal – Turkish official -

The EU should insist as part of the process on full implementation of the Ankara agreement so ships and planes owners and/or managed out of the Republic Of Cyprus can call at Turkish Ports and Airports and use Turkish Airspace as planes and ships from those from other EU Countries can...even better - recognition.

If the EU member states were looking for an excuse to bring back full border controls and abolish Schengen (and some cynics might suggest a lot of talk on 'deficiencies' might be behind this), then, what better reason than give Turks visa-free travel? Give them visa free travel but then introduce stricter entry mechanisms.

Schengen's proving an unwelcome expense now that some of these member states realize they have to financially chip in to jointly share the EU External Border patrols instead of stupidly expecting one country to pick up the tab completely.

the proposal is with the eu parliament. make that what you will. an ostrich sand bury head and under springs to mind but not necessarily in that order.

There you go:

Governments anxious to allay public fears of a wave of immigrants from Turkey itself secured a new emergency brake to apply to all countries with visa-free travel to Europe's 26-nation Schengen zone.
YahooNews

Turkey may get visa free travel but there won't be a Schengen any more.

This I think is the article you are referring tohttps://www.yahoo.com/news/eu-executive-proposes-easing-visas-turks-vestager-111021054.html?ref=gs

Governments anxious to allay public fears of a wave of immigrants from Turkey itself secured a new emergency brake to apply to all countries with visa-free travel to Europe's 26-nation Schengen zone.

The EU executive stressed that only Turks with biometric passports containing facial and fingerprint data can benefit, though Turkey will only start issuing such documents later this year.

"There is no free ride here," Commission First Vice President Frans Timmermans told reporters, stressing that Ankara must still meet five of 72 criteria the EU imposes on states exempt from visas.

The brake appears to be lack of biometric passports and meeting Criteria. I cannot see anything in THIS article, which I think is the one you have referenced, but not provided a link too, about the alleged end of Schengen.
