I met Asil on a number of occasions way back in the late 70s, before the emergence of Polly Peck, when along with his father was running a textile company named Warewell and exporting, by air, to mostly Libya, Tripoli. My then shipping company was doing his airfreight.

A highly intelligent man and if I may say so a very charming and courteous Cypriot.

Many investors made a great deal of money with Polly Peck when initially shares were "Penny Shares" subsequently becoming one of the top 100 shares on the SE.

He was always very polite in his interactions with either my self or my London born G/ Cypriot Manager , Tony, who handled his airfreight. He paid promptly always. He avoided political discussions on the Cyprus situation and concentrated fully on his business. A shrewd businessman who succumbed to the many temptations when involved in relatively large business as he subsequently did.
