Everyone loves Greece ....

:D

...... except Turkophiles!

But, we all hate Turkophiles, don't we?

I can't believe how much positivism is going around about Greece and Greeks. :D

Suddenly, it's as though another Renaissance has happened! 8)

People are waking up to the fact they can behave like Greeks, like civilised humans that help their fellow human no matter circumstances (they pass).

So many people seem to be counting their pennies to see if they too can afford a holiday in Greece ... a short or long stay ... or, if possible with UK finances beings so shit at the moment, perhaps to manage a Greek rural retreat.

Maybe it's because of The Durrells! :P :)

 What a sweeping statement! :?

I absolutely loathe Greece *and* Turkey so there goes your assumption down the drain.

It lowers you (at least in my eyes) that you see value in a shitty country like Greece and the fact that a parent comes from there is no excuse for such profound bias! :?

The truth is that had you felt Greece was great you’d be living there but you’re not… for Athens has to be one of the ugliest if not the ugliest city in Europe, so let’s not kid ourselves.

Yeah I know; I’m not being nice to you (or your thread), but what the fuck is a forum for if you can’t be honest?

Greece sucks woman and you pretending that it’s all hunky-dory sucks even more! :?

My honeymoon was scheduled for Rome but we missed the plane and my wife was crying as we drove back! I kid you not.

You’re probably thinking of a holiday in Santorini some years later.

Are you kidding me? I had paid over £2,700 for a honeymoon suite for 3 days at the Internazionale hotel (or whatever it’s called) which is in the same street as all the famous Italian fashion houses and only about 1-2 km from the Pope!

I recently visited Greece, Athens, and stayed in a hotel in Plaka with fascinating views of Akropolis. I had not been to Greece since 1987 since I much prefer to spend my free time on Paradise Island.

Way back in 1966 I spent 3 months along with my then girlfriend, subsequently my wife ( late wife) touring Greece and the Greek islands.Went to Skiathos, Paros and a bit further away in Samos where we stayed at the Pithagorion village, the birth place of the great Pythagoras, subsequently stayed a few days in the capital also called Samos. We were both 20 years old and absolutely loved our time in Greece. We ended up in Rhodes where we spent a week or so returning to Piraeus and watching whilst on the boat, or rather listening to the commentary of the final world cup match between England and Germany.

Both my self and my late wife absolutely loved Greece and returned on a number of occasions after being married for short breaks.

There is some magical element in Greece that I have yet to encounter elsewhere apart of course from PI.

Its history, ancient monuments, its very rich and very expressive language that from a young age captivated me and prompted me to not only learn the language fluently but emulate at an instant the Greek accent. Much later in life whilst working as a bouzouki player I spent a couple of months, mostly in Thessaloniki, researching " dromous" on the Bouzouki.

Although I have been living in the UK for more than half a century and during my musical career I mostly played the guitar and sung English songs , I subsequently found that what really touches my heart in an exhilarating fashion is the Greek music which I consider the best for dancing, zeimbekiko, tsifteteli and generally getting intoxicated by the taxims and the overall, manly sort of, dancing.

Greece has such a rich history incomparable to any other nation. Yes I love Greece, No I don't wish Cyprus to be a part of Greece.
