Hi Simon

Yes, but don't join them there please :-)

We get some real psychos here; I have to sleep with my light on after reading the CyProb threads at night!

INTERNATIONALLY acclaimed Cypriot singer Anna Vissi has decided to represent Greece in the 2006 Eurovision Song Contest.

But CyBC general director Andros Pavlides said yesterday there were no hard feelings. “Yes, we would like to see Anna Vissi represent Cyprus, but there is no crisis between Greece and Cyprus, as we consider our efforts in Eurovision as common. Whether Greece wins or Cyprus, it is the same for us. We are happy to see this time a Greek Cypriot representing Greece. This participation also represents Cypriots who are also proud.

The large part especially, is my sentiments entirely. It is also good to see all the Greek flags in Melbourne supporting Baghdatis!

Thanks for posting that aricle. In fact I was thinking of posting it as well when I saw it.

Cases like this one where some Cypriots identify so openly with a foreign country simply reinforce my conviction that the cypriot identity which Birkibrisli, Cypezokyli, etc.seem to defend so passionately is non-existent.

In my eyes Cypriotness is simply an artificial construct conveniently designed to support the greek thesis of a unitary state.

I think you'll find that the majority of GCs do not see Greece asa foreign country.

Secondly, that is kind of rich coming from a TC isn't it? Especially when your state in the north is called the 'TURKISH Republic of Northern Cyprus.' Is this not identifying with 'a foreign country' in your words.

A quick reply to perastikos
1.It seems that you live in another planet. I really did not know that there are aliens that are so incredibly idiot!
2. It is sure that you are 100% unaware of what the word history means
3. In the rare case that you live in Cyprus you must be a unique complex personality case that maybe science can help, have you tried?

You can write for hours, you can speak against cyprus and its greek roots, but unfortunately (for you) this does not change the greek blood that runs through our vains, even yours. Sorry, you cannot choose, you ARE Greek. If you do not feel one that is your problem, not ours.

P.S. As you call everybody fart and stupid, I will make sure the next time I fart you are there to enjoy it.

SIMON: I was also happy to see that all the greeks where there for Markos. Herald Tribune described Paghdatis as the Greek god of Tennis!

i am not sure if perastikos is around, but reading some of his post, i can assure you he knows what the word history means. he admitted that he went through the process of hellenism. what he mostly refered to is the christian - helenic paradox. a small walk in athens you can find hundreds of books, concerning that

i dont mind the greeks supporting pagdhatis. the weaving of the greek flags on the other hand, is not sth that really helps our cause. and it is sad, just like we did with the anorthosis-transzosport (how was the name of that team? ) we lost the chance to show that we overcame symbols, and we believe in the RoC.

real or not, if the idea of the cypriot nation can bring peace i am willing to accept it.
besides i said that more than once , with the expeption of some west european countries , almost all other nations were created, and that usually at huge humanitarian costs.
