The new Photovoltaic Electricity Power Plant project which covers 14,000 square meters, has been completed by the International Cyprus University (UKÜ).
In addition to being the greatest renewable energy project in North Cyprus, it also provides an example to the international community. The project has been achieved by being installed on 4 different areas of flat roof, inclined roof, land and car park.
The Head of the Sustainable Energy Research Centre Assoc. Prof. Dr. Serkan Abbasoğlu stated that after conducting a feasibility study, the total cost of the project is 1.5 million euros. Their study has even been published in ‘Solar Energy’ magazine which is the highest regarded magazine covering the field of solar energy.
Furthermore, stating that the project has been linked to other universities on the island via a central monitoring station and it has the feature of a natural laboratory, especially for engineering students, Abbasoğlu said that the project has been visited by many authorities from various countries such as Pakistan, US, Iran, Iraq, China and Turkey and it provides a template for many projects.
Adding that 4131 panels have been installed and 350.000 kilowatt hours of the produced energy will be given to the TRNC Energy Transmission Line, Abbasoğlu said that in this way, 200,000 Turkish liras will be contributed to the economy of the island each year.
It was also said that this project meets 80% of the energy needs of the university, during the daytime.
TRNC Ministry of Foreign Affairs
I have to admit that my admiration for the TRNC Ministry of Foreign Affair sector is growing by the day. I recently made contacts with them regarding the {yet again} current round of Cyprus negotiations and this is what they told me:
"MrH [obviously abbreviated from the masses] the TRNC is a State of the Island of Cyprus and this will never change regardless of what ever happens, in fact its organs are probably growing stronger! We, in the TRNC, see our position permanently within the borders of our Republic [TRNC] and our Responsibilities cemented with Turkey and its sympathizers. To date, we have close relations with world universities, companies and industries, tourism offices, ministers, every aspect and link via Turkey's Foreign ministry and its relations, all of the countries affiliated within the Turkic speaking world, OIC representation (whom you know financed our roads!) and much, much more than you could possibly realize. The Greek Cypriot side have been wasting their time trying to block our international presence, and thanks to their newly adoption of the EU as representing only themselves, they have further opened our side in working with even more countries further than only the EU. The TRNC has excellent relations with all of the Countries with have products and services operating within our country, where unlike the Greek Cypriots, we prefer to keep our channels and profile securely as part of the Republic of Turkey - only. The TRNC foreign ministry is happy in operating under such compliant, secure and less vulnerable parameters, where we take extra efforts in maintaining this political, economic and geographical position. In short, Turkey has all that we require, and similarly to how "Northern Ireland" is to the "UK", we, the "TRNC", is to the "Republic of Turkey". In essence, we have NO interest in any of the so-called unification talks that have been pointlessly going on since 1963. We know that it will never materialise into a Federal structure. Therefore, the Greek Cypriots can continue maintaining their Embargo, racist, based policies towards our state until the day comes when the TRNC will ultimately be fully Assimilated as an official province of Turkey - which is Exactly how it currently operates".
So basically you PRETEND to have a state while in fact you operate as a province of Turkey. MrH... assuming they were given the option, would TCs exchange their Cyprus (EU) passports for Turkish passports with occupied Cyprus becoming officially a Turkish province? What if we talked directly to Turkey and cut a deal with them where they would keep 20% of Cyprus as their own Turkish province and return the rest to us, with all TCs getting the Turkish citizenship and losing their Cyprus citizenship. Would TCs be celebrating?
