Hi Umit - I am going to save GiG some time here

You are only saying that because you are an 'uncivilised Turk' and are only trying to exonerate Turkey (rather than just honestly sharing your opinion on the matter). The title was of the thread was entirely justified and in no way an exaggeration. Only a 'lying Turk' could or would even suggest such a thing.

Yeah umit07 - the question mark proves beyond any possible doubt that the suggestion that GiG was in any way trying to link someone being detained for a couple of hours with the movie midnight express is just a dirty Turkish lie. Still what else can be expected of a dirty Turk, who's only desire in life is to steal from innocent Greeks ?

Of course I was linking it with the movie. But is it a sequel?

[No intelligent life on CF since erolz the troll invaded. ]

Could someone being pushed, made to wait 45 minutes for a translator and then being released after a subsequent 1 hour and 15 minutes, be the basis for a sequel to Midnight Express ? Good question - definitely indicative of intelligent life on CF.

All I can say is that it a stupid question, because plainly there is little or no similarity....but then look who asked it.

Quite clearly the local authorities were acting in a heavy handed way, and I find that disturbing and objectionable but then the Turkish regime, especially under mad Erdogan, has a reputation for far worse treatement of those it views as its enemies, eg the Taksim Square protestors and others, and the evils of what is happening in South east Turkey, and that should be if more concern, the general brutal treatment Of people by the Turkish Authorities.

The degree of similarity was up for discussion, hence the "?".

I do think she was in for a very rough ride if her colleagues and the Embassy didn't step in to free her in a timely fashion.

Probably 'Midnight Express' may have come to mind for a lot of the people involved - which might account for how terrified she was by being manhandled and detained for using her mobile - and not wanting to repeat a "Midnight Express" scenario may have helped terminate the detention.

Discussion with who ? A 6 year old ? Or someone else with a similar hatred for and 'closed mind' with regards to anything connected to Turkey, as yourself ?

On the contrary, my mind isn't "closed" to anything connected to Turkey. That would suggest my hatred for their actions couldn't get worse ..... :P

For as long as Turkey continues (inter alia) to occupy Cyprus - the hatred towards their actions will increase daily.
