No, "Girne" is like you - ugly, "Kyrenia" has a beautiful exotic sound to it. They don't use the T word in describing the north so as not to be associated with the mainland's declining tourist fortunes, they would rather be associated with Cyprus's (without the "T") booming tourist industry.
