In a Nutshell, and through the eyes of the Greek Cypriot "Majority" Population:
"The very mention of there being a north and south, with the north giving up some of the land they currently occupy, is not acceptable to many Greek Cypriots. They do not want Turkish Cypriots to have any territory at all. A United Cyprus, in their eyes, is a Cyprus ruled by the Greek Cypriot majority with the Turkish Cypriot minority doing as they are told by what will be a democratically elected majority making up the rules."
Unfortunate as it may be, the Turkish Cypriots are the "Minority" population on the island a a Fair Federal deal based on a Democratically elected Federal Government can NOT guarantee "Statehood" equality the why Turkey and the Turkish Cypriot want it. A dual Republic States formula like the Montenegro/Serbia Republics is probably the best situation for the Turkish Cypriots. Anything less is simply not worth the Voting Cross it's elected in on for the Turkish Cypriots!
I have chosen the above "Subject" as "DIKKAT! Why Federalism is NOT for Cyprus!" and not "DIKKAT! Why Federalism is NOT for Turkish Cypriots!" as such a Federal deal could end up in yet another inter-communal clash witnessed in the past; when the Turkish Cypriot disagree in a federal government and realise that they are legally and politically strangled, while the Greek Cypriots enforce actions anyway regardless of Turkish Cypriot wishes (as their MINORITY 1-4 ratio representation will mean NOTHING in a Truly operated Democratic government - particularly one under the EU, and without Turkey being a member of it too!)
