I was 63 years young at the time and had never suffered from any back pain up to then. I also immensely disliked any form of medical attention, being a typical Cypriot I put everything on the back burner ignoring symptoms , pain and discomfort, this time however I just had to do something about it. The previous day I had visited my late wife in hospital but I just couldn't make it to the hospital reception, getting out of the car was such a struggle, a kindly young visitor on seeing me struggling to get out of my car offered much needed assistance and got me a wheelchair, he kindly wheeled me up to the ward, so grateful I was to this young man.
You must go the doctor, my late wife in a terse voice said. I will I responded, tomorrow I must do something.
