Listen to Vassos Lyssarides explain the aims of Turkey in Cyprus and how naïve our leadership has been.

As Peter the great said "never trust a Turk". Unfortunately many of our so called leaders want to give the Island to the Turks. :(

Really? Why just men and not women as well?

Look I got no issue with the gentleman or with Makarios either. They may have been very well intended individuals, kind but yet very naive. Certainly they were no politicians.

Both however have a lot to answer and screwed up enormously. Which is why Cyprus has been criminally and illegally tortured.

We had a choice in the 60s and they chose to turn their backs. They could have given the Americans a base like they wanted and apply to join NATO but instead they chose to listen to the stupid and irrational communist AKEL. That AKEL has been the island's biggest curse even under the disastrous Christofias Administration!

Overall, they were both stupid politicians who were messing with things they didn't understand and could not control.
