That is ballistic, designed to cover thousands of kilometers, not tactical surface to surface like the scuds. Those targeted with the sanctions will be prevented from using the american banking system and they are nowhere near the scale of the sanctions just lifted.
There is a UN ban on Iran developing ballistic missile technology if the weapon is large enough to carry a nuclear warhead.
In the past Iran has paraded such missiles through the streets of Tehran decked with banners proclaiming "Death to Israel" and "Death to America" on their side in Arabic and Farsi but in English saying "Down with............. I think that reflects the way they think and do business.
It seems strangely insensitive of the Iranians to test such a missile in the closing stages of the other half of the weapon system sanctions being lifted. The hardline side of the regime I suspect making a point. Not that there seems to be much in the way of a softline.
7 Iranian prisoners in the US were released at the same time as the 4 American/Iranian ones and it was incidental to the lifting of the sanctions.
It seems like a lot of propaganda is being written by some people in this thread.
Good post.
You can understand the sanctions when you put into context the Death to Israel and Death to America slogans.
These are provocations.
Let's hope Iran changes its tune now and the lifting of sanctions is not a big mistake.
Iran has plenty to gain and yet plenty to lose if they start with the same old hardline rhetoric.
I just wonder what world reaction would be if Israel paraded ballistic missiles through the centre of Tel Aviv with "Death to Iran" on them.
They wouldn't parade them ...... they would launch them!
