Endorgan and co, should have ended the the illegal occupation of Cyprus and tried to join with the other countries with legitimate licenses to explore for hydrocarbons.
But they cocked up big time,
instead of reversing course, Endorgans regime kept doubling down on the wrong foreign policies because his ego is too big.
Turkey would rather force the wrong way if it is their way than accept the right way if it is Cyprus or Greece's. (for example)
So they went and bought a seismic survey ship to put on a show for the TC's and everyone else, that they will do what they want in the med.
This was in 2017.
Not capable herself, Turkey tried to employ foreign experts to help her find energy resources from neighboring countries EEZ's so she could steal from them. With the risk of prosecution and having their assets frozen in the EU, these foreign companies bailed out of there faster than a prostitute drops her knickers.
3 years later, Turkey is still pushing lies about her rights in accordance with international law and the minions lap it up. Personally, I have witness many an online debate where Turks are openly repeating whatever Gollum says and none of it, none of it is legal, logical or credible or makes any sense. The brainwashing is strong with them. defending the indefensible, no matter how dumb or wrong it is, looks or sounds is like a right of passage for these dullards. Its almost like a race to the bottom of a virtue-less pit to claim Turkeys "honor", while mindlessly beating the Ottoman drums of war.
Now Endorgan thinks he is going to take on Greece, Egypt, France, Israel the US and the rest of the EU while finding and then extracting the gas out of the med.
No my friend, Turkey has no track record in this. But that hasnt stopped Turkeys foreign minister, Gasofglu, making statements that Turkey is going to issue licenses in Greece's and Cyprus's EEZ's. You guessed it, the only taker will be Turkey's state energy company. That is most probably not capable or fit for purpose.
All this is mainly for internal consumption to show the Turks that their government is relevant and they are doing something about those "provocative Greeks" who are just minding their own business. Also for the TC's, to keep them trapped and left "wanting".
Turkey is politically and economically fucked and Endorgan needs to create distractions and to make the Turks feel important on the world stage. Keeping their eyes and minds away from the dystopia he has created for them to live in.
But the only way he can do this is to make trouble so Turkey is part of the solution in some shape or form when in reality, she is all of the problem.
