Why are you so amazed? Violating the human rights of others is OK, while violating your human rights in order to find a "solution" it is not?

As a matter of fact, if, as Viewpoint supports, ethnic cleansing is the only way to solve this problem, then it makes more sense that the ones that get to stay are the ones who were in Cyprus first and are the great majority, than a small minority that came much later.

I was hopping that we could all live in one island with the human rights of everybody respected. Yet some of you insist that this is impossible. So between the only two alternatives that you allow to us: suicide or killing you, guess which one we will choose.

It is you who are saying that you had every right to kill and disperse the TC population in order to achieve ENOSIS because you are the majority. Well it was tried because they thought that it would be a walk over. Well that minority has now bitten back and has power that they never dreamed of. That is the reality of the situation and as long as people like you refuse that the problem started long before and realise the present situation as a starting point for negotiations and that neither Turkey or the TCs are going to give up that power until they see some sort of agreement befitting their position then this will go on and on. If you are satisfied with the prospect that in a hundred years the GCs will run the TCs into the sea then be happy in your nightmares and sweat dreams.

Another option would be that you have enjoyed the island longer than us so why dont you move to Greece for about 3000 years then we can swap.

Yoou need to realize we TCs are here to stay forever and as long as we cannot find the formula to unite and feel comfortable then the TRNC is here to stay recognized or not, we have lived this way for 31 years we can do so for 5000.

I never said that. What I said is since we are the 82% before 1960 we had the right for Enosis, I never said anything about "killing TCs" etc. Just like many European countries joined EU with much smaller majorities. Should the minorities that didn't want their countries to join the EU perform ethnic cleansing and partition their countries?

No, your position is ridiculous. You are the 18% minority, you have a way shorter history on this island than we do, and then you demand our ethnic cleansing as the solution.

I have always said that if it were a way forward then I would have no problem with it. I have also always said that I don’t think that it will work and it is not right for the people that have suffered for years to be uprooted again. You always say that that is what should happen regardless because it is your human rights. What has happened before cannot be undone so that you are satisfied that you have got what you wanted. I can’t undo what has gone before but I feel it is my duty to stop it happening again. You want to correct a wrong by putting thousands of people through more hell. Sorry can’t see that happening.

Would they have taken the same decision if they knew that by doing so they would start a war? That is exactly what Greece did by thinking that Turkey would ever let go of a strategically placed island in a hostile world with its oldest enemy wanting what it saw as its property. It does not matter that the island belonged to the Cypriots just like it does not matter that Gibraltar belonged to Spain, it is the fact that if they did not want a war then certain things should not have happened.
