Bullshit!.
Cyprus is less corrupt than others mediterranean countries like Italy, Greece or Spain. Yes we're not Australia or New Zealand but more better than eastern europe and mediterranean countries.

You're only less corrupt than Greece but even that I am hopeful will change because Greece is under foreign administration. It is not an independent country and there will be big changes still to come in the coming years before they become somewhat independent.

You wish you were like Spain or Italy. You wish!

"You wish you were like Spain or Italy. You wish".

LOL!!. We are far better than Spain (the paradise of unemployment) and Italy (seems like a southern america corrupt country, with at least 4 criminal organizations).

No Spain does not seem like a South American Country. You sure you're not better than Portugal?

There is no comparison between us and either Italy or Spain I'm afraid. None whatsoever.

Unemployment and corruption are 2 seperate things.

But you can believe what you want. You don't strike me as the sharpest tool in the shed.

Save this shit for the Cyprus Mail and when you’re next there remind those that whine that a fool and his money are soon parted regardless of country of residence.

There is no point in hiding it under the carpet, someone will see the lump!

So tell us how many times you’ve been ripped off then because I for one have never experienced it.

Have you never greased the palms of an official in Cyprus?

Are you friggin mad or just a bit naive in your white socks and sandles?

Personally, no.

Yes, i'm sure, we're better than Portugal, Spain and Italy. Italy's bureaucracy is like a South American contry, a lot but a lot worse than us.
And i know spanish people who live in Cyprus and all said Cyprus is better than Spain, for business and quality of life.

I think that's just a little over the top Robin.

It's sad when ex Pats, who don't speak the language and don't want to either, generalize to the extreme and spread misinformation amongst themselves like a broken telephone.
I've heard alot of outrageous theories and accusations, many of which I've had to correct.

That's why I warn people on taking advice from Ex Pats, they live in their own little paranoid bubbles.
Get the facts straight from multiple sources before making decisions.

The richest families of Cyprus- the names are well known: Lanitis, Paraskevaidis, Ioannou, Shakolas, Levendis, Hadjioannou, made their fortunes mostly or wholly overseas. Most of them started their businesses during the British administration which presumably was beyond reproach when it came to corruption. Who in Cyprus would these guys bribe to land contracts in some far away country? And what effect would such a bribe have? No one and none at all are the obvioius answers.

As for favoritism, nepotism etc, read up on the Cambridge five, the spies who betrayed Britain for a generation. They ALL got their jobs in intelligence through simple letters of recommendation in the old boy network. We are not talking any job, these were senior jobs in intelligence in a country often protrayed as an example of fairness in civil service postings.

So guys, lay off blaming Cyprus for being just like any other western country, and on many points much better.
