too bad he don't respect him enough to remove sanctions. is that TRUMP talking or the establishment I wonder?

who in their friggin right mind supports despots like Assad, especially after the latest revelations? Who?

Most decent people want criminals like that to face a war crimes commission. and he will. I told you to write that down.

there is no way in friggin hell we will let this creep get away with it if its the last thing we all do.

Credibility score = 0 Once again just an inane baseless 'anti' rant.

BTW: The sanctions are hurting the EU far more than they have hurt Russia ...... they found other markets!

There appear to be a host of papers on this subject. Some of heroic length and technical depth. Reading through a selection of diverse conclusions though it seems to me that:

Russia has not profited from western sanctions.

Their inability to obtain capital investment, particularly in their principal resource - energy - coupled with the loss of technical expertise they had earlier in the increasingly difficult areas needed has hurt the Russian economy to the extent of about $40 billion pa.

This pales into insignificance though when the figures for the reduced income from a severe drop in oil prices has had (from about $115pb down to $20 at one point). This is estimated to have caused a loss of between $100 - $120 Billion pa.

Chinese and Indian investment and technical expertise has not made much of a dent in either of these areas.

In a dictatorship of course this isn't bad news of the same order as in a vulnerable democracy. Let them eat cake, sorta thing.

As far as hurting the west (principally the EU) goes. The most vulnerable country to suffer has been Germany of course. Last week they posted their trade figures for 2016. It showed an increase in exports over the year of 1.2% (2015 was 6.2%) and a record trade surplus of €244,000,000,000.

"Capital outflow" has been another depressing factor in their recession. I suppose the best explanation of that phenomena could be found in a casual, inquisitive stroll down the Limassol seafront area.

i should have added that this could of course all be "fake news".

" Dec 11, 2015 9:32 am"
From the very start of this thread I stated my views on Donald Trump.
" Let me state from the outset that I find his views despicable, undemocratic and absolute nonsense. The very vast majority of Muslims are no different from and other religious groups, yes there is an ideology that has been hijacked by some, ie the jihadists and other Islamic fanatic groups, yes they too, the jihadists praise their fictitious god, just as the Ku Klux Klan did as well as the Nazis. The vast majority of American Christians did not support KKK or indeed support the Nazis."
Barely a month as the President and surrounded by controversy one can not help but think that his days as POTUS may come to an abrupt end . I have agreed with his stated wish that the USA ought to have good relations with Russia, I still hold on to this belief that it is far better for the world to be at peace than at war. Frankly I do not see how this can be achieved when there are so many , not least McCaine who seems to constantly attacking the President's views on Russia.
I have held back in passing a judgement on President Trump preferring to wait and see.

As days go by with North Korea and Iran on the President's " notice" one can not help but wonder if something catastrophic may just be round the corner. Volatile times indeed , let us hope that the new President does not embark on an adventure that could be so dangerous for the entire world.

"Donald Trump’s presidency is likely to be the second shortest ever, a leading historian and author has claimed.

Professor Ronald L Feinman predicted that the former reality TV star will stay in the top job "between the 31 days of William Henry Harrison in 1841", who died pneumonia and the "199 days of James A. Garfield in 1881", who died 79 days after he was shot by an assassin "after terrible suffering and medical malpractice".

unfortunately i do not share your optimism. the guy is too stupid to be president but even more unfortunately the american electorate are even more stupid than him. he will be able to manipulate them with the same old empty meaningless rhetoric and win a second term. of course he will deport a few mexicans to say i tried but the courts stopped me an all that.

the man is removing a mother and a young man who are not threat what so ever to the us and not even loking at the problem of millions of americans who are armed to the teeth some with assult rifles capable of firing 15 rounds per minute. talk of being stupid, how the hell did the americans get to the moon. it can't be true. i don't believe it.

he inheritted 40 million dollars from his father in 1974. it seems he would have made more money putting in to a long term savings account then the way he invested it. Not counting how much money he stole from his creditors and grants stolen from his so called university. what makes a person rich is not inteligence as tramp proved, it is greed and no concience about stealing other peoples' money.

the 40 million he inheritted from his father is worth 200 million today.

the real question is when he bankrupted his companies how much money did he steal from honest people. probaply billions.
