Washington (CNN) — President Donald Trump fired acting Attorney General Sally Yates Monday night for "refusing to enforce a legal order designed to protect the citizens of the United States," the White House said.

"(Yates) has betrayed the Department of Justice," the White House statement said.

Dana Boente, US attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia, was sworn in at 9 p.m. ET, per an administration official. A few hours later, Boente issued a statement rescinding Yates' order, instructing DOJ lawyers to "defend the lawful orders of our President."

Trump didn't call Yates to dismiss her, she was informed by hand-delivered letter, according to a different administration official."

Trump unrepentant, a strong leader or a time bomb waiting to explode !!!

Bit of a daft thing to do. Either she should have confronted him in the office and if he would not compromise, she should have just resigned in protest. That would have made he look more professional?

Sooner rather than later the American people will accept that Trump is the legally elected POTUS. Like him on not he IS the President and the President carries certain powers, not least the Commander and Chief of the US military.
Its time that everyone accepts that Trump IS the President and commander in chief. He is different from all other presidents before him , maybe this is a good thing, only time will show.

Tim Drayton:
..... need to take stock of this and start trying to win the rest of society over to these ideas.

But of course you know a lot more about ‘......a cosmopolitan, tolerant, open-minded and non-bigoted world view that supports pluralistic democracy and multiculturalism’ than anyone else possibly could. So why are you living in Cyprus? Hardly a good example of the society you believe in, is it?

People who support the kind of values that I thought had now become accepted as being part of Western civilisation and are in fact only valued by about half the population.

Maybe this is why the other half feel the way they do ...... you answer your own question!

.........the anger these people feel at having been sidelined.

Well, I hope you have more success in ‘winning over’ these seriously disillusioned people to your enlightened way of thinking, than I have trying to explain the monetary system to relatively intelligent people. It is an uphill struggle.

If your audience is little Englanders or council house tenants or the unemployed ......... you stand no chance ! The educated professionals that have their own views or old age pensioners with experience of life, I doubt will need your advice.

Personally, as a person, I don’t like him. I much prefer Putin's attitude and his approach. As I have said before Trump strikes me as being completely out of his depth, He is more an arrogant showman playing to the crowds. He may be a business man but that description is subjective and he has had several failures in his time, only the extreme wealth he made on other ventures kept him afloat. His policies ..... well some good some not so good. We are going to have to wait and see.

On immigration I can see his point in wanting control over his borders and over who the US wants in their country, but the execution of it has been a disaster. But I have a feeling he is being stitched up by this deep state. When you start to balance the information, immigrants Muslim or otherwise are not the problem. Most terror attacks are undertaken by home grown Americans and the Muslims that gave are all from countries NOT on the list!

His relationship with Putin and Russia could come to some thing, let’s hope it does because the alternative, if he loses to people like McCain, as Paphitis believes will happen, will lead to WWIII.

Its time that everyone accepts that Trump IS the President and commander in chief. He is different from all other presidents before him , maybe this is a good thing, only time will show.

Most of those I have seen interviewed on TV that are protesting, seem to have little idea of what they are actually protesting about. It follows the let’s all hate Putin and the Russians routine. It is all hype but very little substance in their arguments.

Time will tell ..... maybe ‘They’ will be stupid enough to do another JFK but people are better informed now than they were 50 years ago, it then could cause a flash-over and set the US on fire from within.

...i am a bit disturbed to watch the President's Press Secretary state that the acts of terror in Quebec the other day reinforces their travel ban. To me he appeared like a game show contestant, sometimes knowing the right answer, sometimes guessing, sometimes getting it wrong; but hoping with his answer to score points.

...well Mr. Bissonette, a big supporter of Trump, and the extreme right wing, is alive and in jail. As the months roll along, Mr. Spicer's remarks will come to haunt him.

No refugee to the US has ever been responsible for a domestic terror attack.

...Mr. Bissonette is as "white" as it gets.

(Mr. Khadir, we discover was fleeing for his life.)

This Poll seems to fly in the face of what is showing on TV? :|

Donald Trump’s popularity surges after first week as President

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll has found the new president’s job approval hitting the mid- to upper 50s.

Rasmussen shows US voters strongly approving President Trump’s moves on trade, spending and immigration. Strikingly 38% of women voters think the country is moving in the right direction, the highest level of confidence in four years.

" Donald Trump petition: MPs to debate whether UK state visit should go ahead as more than 1.5m call for it to be cancelled "

I also found slogans such as these below highly offensive . Are they representative of the vast majority of muslims or a tiny minority.

...milti, how do these two facts fit together?

...what are you implying, those welcomed to live in Britain, through immigration or residency, have not been properly screened for this, that in this diversity, such extreme demonstrations of Free speech are to be feared because the system itself is in chaos and out of control? (that's what it sounds like to me.)

Honestly, do you have so little confidence in Britain's government?

...the cowards (what else can you say about them, men, who have their faces covered), do they represent Muslims, i ask you.

...Ms. May, is she a populist who should sway to every notion that blows her way; isn't that what got Britain into a mess?

By analogy, i will add, when your friend is too drunk wanting to drive, or obnoxious in a bar, what do you do, abandon the friendship between you?

...indeed, Trump needs friends, friends or not (with him), America and Britain are friends, and deeply.

In Canada today, Canadians mourn the loss of their own to a terrorist action, again (and either way), more united against hatred, by the loving nature that is, or now becoming, a 'Canadian way'. My hope is that in England, or in the USA, the public does not have to share in the same mindless tragedy. I hope that in England, and in the USA, if Muslims die to terror, there, they, the People, will feel as strongly.

I said I thought that Trump was being stitched up over this visa/Muslim ban because it seems to be so chaotic. It could be I'm not alone in feeling that. Something in the US is beginning to stink! If I were Trump I would use this as a test of his new policy on torture like water boarding? (Just joking  )

I vividly remember watching on tv these demonstrations and aghast that these fanatics were allowed to display for all to see their immense hatred for anyone not sharing their faith. This happened in London, not in some third world theocratic shithole.

Bomb Denmark they screamed, bomb Spain ? How on earth can this hateful disgusting behaviour be tolerated in our western cities. May I say to all those that find our tolerance and freedom of speech unacceptable, especially Lordo, fuck off back to your shit holes and stay there and be amongst your equally non tolerant fellow " believers" in fairy tales.

If Trump continues on his current course sooner or later he will come up against the law in the form of the Supreme Court, and he can't sack them all. Sooner or later even the American fascists and rednecks who voted for him will realise that they have an out and out nutter in the White House. Chances are he will end up in an asylum, be impeached or shot. I give him a year or less. :D
