Turkish Cypriot leader/TRNC President (depending on your viewpoint) Mustafa Akıncı has made a statement in support of the detained Cumhuriyet journalists Can Dündar and Erdem Gül, including the words:

Demokrasi, insan hakları, düşünce ve ifade özgürlüğü, haber alma hakkı, insan olmanın olmazsa olmazları. Ben de her şeyden önce insanım ve Can Dündar ile Erdem Gül'e ve onların şahsında özgürlüğünden yoksun bırakılmış tüm gazetecilere dayanışmamı belirtirim.

Translation:
Democracy, human rights, freedom of thought and expression and the right to obtain news are essential components of being human. I am above all human and I express my solidarity with Can Dündar and Erdem Gül and, through them, all journalists who have been deprived of their freedom.

Two generals and one retired officer have now been taken into pre-trial detention for their involvement in stopping lorries in Adana and Hatay in January 2014 that were carrying aid, seemingly including arms, to jihadis in Syria, the event for which Can Dündar and Erdem Gül have been arrested for reporting. It looks like this may snowball into another large Stalinesque show trial with massive numbers of defendants.

What's also interesting is fresh from the EU summit the Turkish PM is doing a one day visit to see Akinci. I hope this is abt compromising in the talks

In fact, I would say it is pretty unprecedented for the person holding that office to speak out against the actions of the Turkish regime in that way. I don't recall Talat, despite previously having made some pretty outspoken statements, doing or saying anything to ruffle Ankara's or the AKP's feathers while occupying the same position.
