...funny, it is a long story, but i worked with a pious (Greek) man who i greatly respect to this day. He hired me on the recommendation of the Architect, (we are all Greeks, coincidence would have it).
As a builder, i have come across many people who have had hard lives. Frankly some of the best tradesman i've worked with, discovered their passion in prison. I do not judge men, but the work that they produce.
In any case, Joshua is one of those men. Willing to work for the food i supplied, lodging, and ($10 a day) the challenge of doing what are the dirtiest and most mundane tasks. (just when the site opened he showed up, no where to live, that's right, from jail), and so he became the night watchman, and the picker, the guy who keeps the construction site, clean (and in his case spotless), and safe.
Horrified was the man, my client, when he learned of this person, his son had become friends with. He said, he would never have hired me if he knew that i associate with such people, but what was done was done.
One of my fondest memories, is this man, who saw his special needs child bloom from the interaction he had with this giant (in my mind, as a Human being, as well), and the quality of my work, which won his building the prize of best execution of work, "You are not a good Christian, V. But you are a better man than me."
