8. For these reasons we hope that the possibility of achieving enosis will not be too readily set aside.

Just as a mere four years earlier it was not just the hope of the British Government that enosis would not be too readily set aside, it was there determined aim and objective that Cyprus should not become part of Greece following the end of their colonial rule and needed to be proscribed by international treaty obligation. Just as years on from this point in time it was again no longer their hope either. Well done you have shown what everyone already knew and that Sotos pointed out to you, that British aims for Cyprus change according to what the British think best serves their interest at that time. How shocking.

British Aims for Cyprus

Conclusions

14. (c) If Mr Tumioja and others reach the conclusion that a "pro-Greek" solution is the only possible one the main problem will be to bring the Turks to accept this conclusion. It would seem well for the political departments to begin to consider now how, with the Americans and other countries, we might best seek to bring this about.

And we know what happened next .....

We do indeed - Mr Tumioja did not reach the conclusion that a "pro-Greek" solution was the only possible one.

Actually they achieved the first step of what they had struggled for; while pushing TCs out of the government and keeping them in a neverending limbo...
