The ancient ships were surprisingly sophisticated. Ask a nautical designer, engineer, and then spout crap.

The Kyrenia ship was built in Greece, how do you think it got to Kyrenia where it was sunk by pirates? And how did these pirates pursue it and attack it if not by other ships?

Kalymnian sponge divers worked off the coast of Paphos, arriving there with their boats, the most usual type being around 10 or 12 meters. Visit the sponge museum in Paphos, look at the photos. The Kalymnian trehantiri, (no GPS) is a lot smaller than ancient trading ships.

You are a typical land lubber, stick to donkeys. Ships are complicated things.

GR is talking crap as always. If the Greeks couldn't get to Cyprus (and there are far easier ways to get to Cyprus from mainland Greece than a direct line from Crete), then how did the Chirokitians get to Cyprus 1000s of years earlier with primitive prehistoric technology? If we follow GRs logic then Cyprus should have remained uninhabited until the invention of GPS  GRs... on a normal day you can easily make that 11km trip from Turkey to Farmakonisi with this boat:

... as long as there are 1-2 people on it, and not 10!

I never said that it was random, commonalities make it easier to form a group identity. What I find weird is the unwavering allegiance many GC's have to Greece, despite being short changed by them a number of times.

Apart from the coup (done by dictators) what are the other times? And what would Cyprus gain by destroying our alliance with Greece? Unlike the relationship you have with Turkey, Greece doesn't impose anything on us but supports our cause as much as they can. What we need is to create more alliances, not destroy the ones we already have!

I put together a map demonstrating how trading and thus navigation most likely took place in 1200BC, but unfortunately I keep getting told by the forum software that the image is invalid even though is displays ok at my end.

Ah well, maybe I’ll try again later.

Ever thought the Mediterranean was a giant lake which dried up and people just walked accross it?
How about the animals, you think they charted boats to get to cyprus or you think migration was only limited to humans...
