If Russia touches Turkey, then damascus is off the map let me give you the tip. There will be no Syrian Airports to fly from.

you think that all the NATO countries are gonna want glassing because turkey got glassed?...

if anything, if turkey is glassed it would unlivable so the bases or even the political/military alliance won't be there because its glassed.....the benefit would have been removed...

so back to the making a deal, a toast and some major headlines and ww3 is avoided...no one will remember turkey 10 years from when it happens...

Yes! Article 5 is sacred. All countries will be in should that be necessary because Article 5 is something that can't be compromised otherwise its the end of NATO. Even Greece will be in. Oh yes, Tsipras will come to the aid of his Turkish Brothers as determined by Article 5.

ANZUS will be in too, but we all know that Russia will not take it that far, because its one thing being a smart arse and projecting power, but quite another thing to risk a war with the USA which would annihilate Putin capability in weeks.

I suggest you go to bed. Turkey will not be destroyed because Putin does not have what it takes and does not want to be destroyed himself which is what will happen.

There was more than one paper picking it up.

Only the mainstream like BBC and CNN have not picked it up because the Turks and Americans have been tight lipped and probably they have their reasons for this.

All I know is that the Turks were never going to let this slip. they issued a warning to Russia that they would shoot their planes down if the incursions continued and I for one believed them 100% when the rest of you were making fun of it.

A Turk is a Turk. Nothing new here.

Turks and Israelis are not your typical US, Australian, French, Canadian, or British Military. We are little cuddly teddy bears compared to them. Too many "cool heads" and probably the world should be grateful for that.

please show me these papers that all picked it up with out making a reference to express or daily...

and you think they have their reasons for this?...like trying not to let the Russians know OR you think they might want to break it to them gently as not upset them too much...but as always I am open to learn so please go ahead and give me some of these reasons...

the turks ain't gonna do shit...apart from whining...something like us we whine a lot because we can't get the turks of our backs...same relationship and turkey whining...

ask your self this question...what would turkey achieve by doing this even if the Russian plane was in Turkish territory...you think the US would allow the turks to shoot at a Russian plane?...what would the US gain...

1...article 5 might state what you imply but does not talk if the actually member country is glassed rendering the member country a not entity...you see the problem...there is nothing to defend rendering the member country a has been territory...

2...you actually think there will be a time when 2 super powers well USA and Nato against Russia and china will ever meet?...are you for real?...why you think they have proxy wars?...so they do not get involved...involvement means earth destruction...no winner here huh...

what everyone says and what everyone does, in time are two separate things...

 You’re deluded dude; America always has two sets of rules… one they use in real life and one for the consumption of idiots like you!

At the very least Turkey is destined for partition. There’s no doubt about it because it’s a fundamental necessity for peace in the ME, everybody knows that.

Obama is not as silly as some think.

Russia is trying to project power and construct some "show of strength". The USA does not need to do this.

With that, Putin might not be very willing to come across weak and the USA is not going to back him into a corner because of the slight possibility that he will react.

There are logistical concerns to have all the possibilities covered, including a potential attack against the Turkish Military which will force Turkey to escalate further.

I guarantee you that Obama has been working all night speaking to his allies and NATO members on the phone.

Oh come on. Russia doesn't have the Navy or Air Force to fight a war with the USA. You guys are deluded.

We won't out-rule any possible reaction, but we think Putin is not friggin STUPID.

The USA has 10 Aircraft Carriers for heaven's sake which are about the equivalent size of the entire Russian Air Force. That's 750 fighters alone.
