Washington’s failure to share data with Russian intelligence about terrorist positions in Syria makes one question the goals that Americans have in their anti-ISIS campaign in Syria and Iraq, a senior Russian diplomat has said.

The refusal to share intelligence on terrorists “just confirms once more what we knew from the very start, that the US goals in Syria have little to do with creating the conditions for a political process and national reconciliation,” Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov said Thursday.

“I would risk saying that by doing this the US and the countries that joined the US-led coalition are putting themselves in a politically dubious position. The question is: which side are you fighting for in this war?”

“I don’t know how you can share intelligence when you don’t share a basic, common objective inside Syria. We’re not at that – we’re nowhere near that point. There’s no shared, common objective here about going after ISIL,” said John Kirby, a State Department spokesman.

Isn't their basic common objective to destroy ISIS?

Turkey appealed to its NATO allies on Oct. 8 to shore up missile defences in the country aimed at shooting down Syrian rockets, as Germany said again that it will withdraw its Patriot batteries and the United States was set to do the same.

Days after Russian jets violated Turkey's airspace near Syria, Ankara's NATO envoy urged the U.S.-led alliance to continue to deploy air defence systems, according to two people briefed on talks at a defence ministers meeting in Brussels.

Germany's defence minister said Berlin would go ahead with plans to switch off its Patriot batteries in Turkey next week and withdraw most of the soldiers operating them before Christmas. All soldiers and materiel are due to be withdrawn by the end of January.

"This decision (to withdraw the Patriots) is right," Ursula von der Leyen said as she arrived for the meeting.

The Patriot withdrawals make sense because nobody wants to be responsible for shooting down a Russian fighter jet as Russia gets more and more dominant in the region pushing the Turks further back.

The way things are going Russia may have to take out a portion of Turkey to facilitate peace in Syria but I think it’s worth it.

NATO says they’re gonna send “troops” to help Turkey on the border but I figured they meant the Turkish NATO contingent! <--

Bottom line is that Turkey was just another proxy and cannon fodder in this war against Syria.

Check out the comments at the bottom of this article. The people of the world are waking up to terrorist Turkey. People online are calling Turkey and Erdogan terrorists.

There is much support for Russia's intervention in Syria. Surprisingly or not, from western commentators.

I don't think the people of other NATO countries will support Turkey's defence should she cry crocodile tears for help. I dont think NATO itself really gives a damn if they are willing to withdraw air defense systems either.

There's an internal struggle within me right now.

Part of me wants the progressive voices in Turkey to finally shine through the clouds of Erdogan's idiocy and madness and deliver a government that will help them tackle their problems as country, focus on their own issues and leave us, the Kurds and the Syrians alone.

The other part of me wants Erdogan to stay in power and be allowed to show the vast and uncompromising extends of his incompetence until the country of Turkey is fractured in pieces and his own people remember him for centuries as the Anti-taturk, the killer of their nation.

Erdogan is the product of mass, long-term US corruption just as happened with the Saudi “royal” family, the Pakistani leaderships, the Israeli leaderships, and every other spoilt “partner” of the criminal US, so it doesn’t matter who is at the helm of these countries because they all end up getting spoiled rotten and immersed in corruption up to their neck for they are led by the world’s arch-criminals who flood them with money and make them feel invincible.

America is a mass corruption generating machine that eats away at every institution and every organization on the planet, grinding away at the freedom and justice of humanity.

Saudi Arabia’s “election” to the Human Rights council last week is one of the many tale-tell signs of global US corruption and fallout the world is faced with today. If this outrageous move didn’t send a chill down your spine and open your eyes, nothing will…

These withdrawals were planned from 2 years ago, because NATO have commissioned its Missile Defence Shield, thus making the Patriots obsolete and not required.

So your post is complete nonsense I am afraid. There is absolutely no policy to make Turkey completely defenceless against Russian incursions. It's Air Defence capabilities have been bolstered.

In fact, this is what has been decided from the NATO meeting yesterday:

Nato has renewed assurances to defend allies in view of the "escalation of Russian military activities" in Syria, the alliance's secretary-general says.
Jens Stoltenberg said defence ministers had decided to boost response forces to be able to deploy troops speedily.

Announcing the doubling of the size of the Nato Response Force to 40,000, Mr Stoltenberg said: "All of this sends a clear message to all Nato citizens. Nato will defend you, Nato is on the ground, Nato is ready."
He also urged Moscow to stop backing Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

It stands ready to assist Turkey to maintain the integrity of its airspace if requested and Nato is reviewing its naval presence in the eastern Mediterranean, where the Russians already have a small naval flotilla off the Syrian coast.

But a Saudi government official told the BBC that in response to the Russian air strikes in Syria, it was stepping up its supply of weaponry to three anti-Assad rebel groups there.
The official said the Free Syrian Army, Jaysh al-Fatah and Southern Front would get increased supplies of modern, high-powered weaponry, including guided anti-tank weapons.

Turkey has requested assistance to maintain the integrity of its airspace but your saying that its defenses have been bolstered with ground troops.

They are still pulling out the patriots and the German defence minister's comments suggest that Turkeys air force is capable of intercepting Russian fighter jets....... and missiles. Yeah right.
